Hey everyone, I’m in a bit of a moral dilemma and I know how much this sub loves (or hates) a good "save the classics" debate. I have an old BMW E46 that’s been sitting on my driveway. It needs a head gasket, the suspension is shot, and the interior smells like a basement. A couple of "enthusiasts" from Facebook Marketplace came to see it, offered me peanuts, and honestly, they seemed like the type who would just part it out or leave it to rot further. I’m tired of the lowballers and the "is this still available" messages. I’m seriously considering just taking the easy route. I went to some guys to get a scrap car quote and honestly, the price was surprisingly decent and way less headache than dealing with private buyers.

But I feel a bit guilty. Am I "killing" a car that someone else might have the time to fix? Or is the "save every old car" mentality just toxic for our wallets? At what point do you guys decide a car is officially "dead" and not worth the marketplace drama?

Curious to hear if you’ve ever scrapped something you later regretted.
