Fast-moving e-bikes are pushing Auburn police to rethink how they patrol the city, according to The Citizen .

Police Chief Matthew Androsko wants to launch a dedicated e-bike unit, saying traditional bikes can’t keep up with riders hitting speeds near 30 mph. The plan includes using grants or seized funds to buy the bikes.

Officials say e-bikes help officers reach areas patrol cars can’t. The move comes as complaints grow about unsafe riding, especially on sidewalks and downtown streets. City leaders may also revisit local regulations.
