Episode 4 Mercedes-Benz World Tour | Legends & Mountains: Argentina to Chile
Welcome to Part 4 of our 140 Places World Tour! From South America’s heartland, the three S‑Classes now chase racing legends and cross the spine of a continent.
In Balcarce, Argentina, we step into the birthplace of motorsport royalty: Juan Manuel Fangio. Inside his museum, his nephew shares the story of five world titles and a racing legacy that defined an era. But this visit carries a personal connection – one of our crew members reveals his father was Fangio’s race technician.
Heading west, we retrace the historic routes of another pioneer: Ewy Rosqvist. In 1962, this Swedish driver and her co-driver Ursula Wirth impressed the world by winning the Argentine Turismo Standard Grand Prix in a Mercedes‑Benz 220 SE – beating every male competitor on their way. Our S‑Class convoy is joined by an original 220 SE, driving the same legendary roads more than 60 years later.
Finally, we face our biggest challenge yet: crossing the Andes. Up through narrow switchbacks and border posts, the S‑Class climbs into a new country as we enter Chile.
