According to a report from FreightWaves, a manufacturer has introduced a new medium-duty low-cab-forward work truck. The company, Harbinger, presented the vehicle at a trade show in Indianapolis earlier in March 2026. Both all-electric and plug-in hybrid variants of the truck are now available for order.

The HC Series Cab is designed to address compromises between payload, maneuverability, and range for urban and regional fleets. The truck has a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,000 pounds and a payload capacity claimed to match leading vehicles in its segment. Its low-cab-forward configuration allows for longer cargo boxes on shorter wheelbases, increasing usable space without extending the vehicle’s total length.

The plug-in hybrid model incorporates a gasoline engine to recharge its batteries, which can extend its operating range. This hybrid version can also recharge while parked without needing a plug. An onboard AC inverter supplies exportable power, and in hybrid mode, this power is continuously available through onboard generation, eliminating the need for a separate generator. The platform supports full power take-off for operating auxiliary equipment.

The vehicle features a turning diameter and a frame height designed to improve maneuverability and ease of loading. The driving position is intended to enhance visibility for urban safety, and independent front suspension aims to provide a smoother ride. The truck’s front end is modular to facilitate repairs, and the platform is engineered for a long service life.

Harbinger has also acquired a company to integrate more driver-assistance technology into its vehicles. Current models include several safety features. Later in 2026, the company plans to add further advanced safety systems to its electric and hybrid trucks, a move it states is in direct response to fleet operator demand.
