The Tesla Model S Plaid and 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 faced off again in a drag race rematch, and the result left no room for debate.

The race took place at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida and was filmed by DragTimes.

Behind the wheel were Tesla owner Brooks Weisblat and Corvette owner Christian, both looking to settle the score after their first run.

This time, with clean launches and no excuses, it came down to which car could actually deliver when it mattered.

The Tesla Model S Plaid vs Corvette ZR1 rematch had a very clear winner

Going into the race, both cars looked evenly matched in different ways.

The Corvette ZR1 is powered by a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 making 1,064 horsepower, and it’s lighter than the Tesla too.

Meanwhile, the Model S Plaid uses three electric motors to produce 1,020 horsepower, along with all-wheel drive and instant torque.

At Bradenton Motorsports Park, that difference showed up straight away.

On the first run, Christian got the ZR1 off the line perfectly.

The Corvette charged down the quarter mile in 9.26 seconds at just over 149 miles per hour, while Brooks struggled with the Tesla’s launch and finished behind with a 9.57.

He didn’t hold back either, calling the run ‘a disaster’ straight after.

However, the second run flipped everything.

This time, the Tesla launched cleanly and immediately pulled ahead in near silence.

It crossed the line in 9.24 seconds, while the Corvette dropped to a slower 9.59.

Once the Plaid gets the start right, it becomes very hard to beat.

So it came down to one final race.

In the tiebreaker, the Tesla repeated that same strong launch and never gave the Corvette a chance to catch up.

It ran a 9.26-second pass, while the ZR1 slipped back to 9.75.

That gave the Plaid two wins out of three, making it the clear overall winner of the rematch.

Why the Corvette ZR1 still isn’t the Plaid’s perfect rival

Even though it lost, the Corvette ZR1 is still incredibly quick.

Christian’s car, which cost around $231,000 and has a few performance upgrades, has already beaten a Lamborghini Temerario at the same track.

So this wasn’t a weak challenger.

The difference comes down to how each car delivers its power.

The Corvette sends all 1,064 horsepower to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

That can make launches tricky, because getting the grip just right is everything.

The Tesla, on the other hand, uses all-wheel drive and electric motors, so it delivers power instantly and more consistently.

That consistency is what keeps deciding these races.

Even in 2026, five years after it first launched, the Tesla Model S Plaid is still one of the hardest cars to beat in a straight line.

The Corvette ZR1 got close at the start, but once the Tesla found its rhythm, it showed exactly why it’s still the benchmark.
