The 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander Hybrid starts at $44,990, marking an increase of $2845 over the 2025 model. Despite the price hike, the more expensive version adds an improved plug-in hybrid system that offers more range and significantly more horsepower. A larger battery with improved cooling means that the Outlander PHEV now makes 297 horsepower, up from 248 last year.

The plug-in hybrid Mitsubishi Outlander has a host of new upgrades to go along with its new starting price. Speaking of price, the 2026 Outlander PHEV now starts at $44,990 in ES trim, which is up $2845 from the 2025 version. So what exactly do you get for that extra cash?

For starters, you get a lot more power. Thanks to a new 23-kW battery (up 15 percent), the Outlander PHEV now provides a claimed 45 miles of electric range. The larger battery also comes with an upgraded cooling system and improved thermal management, which Mitsubishi says allowed it to increase output from 248 horsepower in 2025 to a much more potent 297 ponies in 2026. The automaker also fiddled with the steering and suspension tuning to make the compact SUV more engaging to drive.

Changes to the Outlander PHEV’s styling and features follow those applied to the nonhybrid 2025 Outlander. For the exterior, that means a revised front grille, new headlights and taillights, and new 18- and 20-inch wheel designs. The interior has been redesigned and now includes a Yamaha sound system. The new layout gives the center console more storage, adds room for the wireless charging pad, and relocates the cupholders to make them more accessible.

A spokesperson for Mitsubishi declined a request from Car and Driver for the rest of the 2026 Outlander Hybrid’s pricing. According to the automaker, official pricing for the SE, SEL, and new Black Edition trims will be announced when the 2026 model goes on sale in May.
