Despite advancements in battery technology and bold promises from automakers to extend the range of electric vehicles, many models still deliver modest mileage figures in today’s market for eco-friendly transportation. The following list highlights EVs whose driving range leaves much to be desired.
Fiat 500e
The manufacturer claims a range of just around 149 miles (approximately 240 km). In practice, this means frequent stops at fast-charging stations will be necessary, as DC charging takes nearly an hour—hardly the most convenient option for long-distance travel.
Mini Countryman Electric
This model’s range depends on the chosen wheel configuration, varying from a rather modest 180 miles to a maximum of 212 miles (290 to 341 km). Even its high price doesn’t guarantee a significant boost in range, especially if you opt for sporty tires with low rolling resistance.
Mercedes-AMG EQE SUV
The blend of premium-class dynamics and comfort comes at the cost of high battery energy consumption. Although equipped with a sizable battery pack, this vehicle can cover less than 230 miles (roughly 370 km).
Lexus RZ F Sport
A battery with a capacity of 74.7 kWh seems promising, but the real-world result falls well short of expectations—maximum travel distance is about 229 miles (368 km). The reason lies in the high energy demands of its powerful motor.
Dodge Charger Daytona
Its bold body design and powerful engine require significant electrical energy, limiting the range to just 241 miles (approximately 388 km). Despite its expressive looks and brisk acceleration, long trips become a real challenge for this car.
While the Lucid Gravity offers a range of 337–450 miles (542–724 km) and the Tesla Model Y achieves 294–357 miles (473–574 km), the models described above clearly lag behind in this crucial metric.
