PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A Valley grand jury has indicted an 18-year-old and an underage teen for allegedly robbing a 12-year-old boy of his e-bike at gunpoint in Gilbert, prosecutors announced Tuesday.
The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office says Dyllin Keys, 18, and an unnamed 14-year-old boy were indicted last week over the robbery that led to an arrest captured on police cameras.
Officers quickly arrived and took a man into custody following a heartwrenching 911 call from a child who told the dispatcher his bike was taken at gunpoint.
Prosecutors said Keys was indicted on felony charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault, aggravated robbery, weapons misconduct, and a liquor violation, which is a misdemeanor. Meanwhile, the other teen was indicted on a single count of aggravated robbery.
Court documents say the boy was riding on a trail near the canal on the night of Feb. 6 when he was approached by the suspects, who were riding the same e-bike.
Both got off the e-bike, and the boy reported that one of them pulled out a handgun.
The armed suspect, later identified as Keys, allegedly pointed the gun at the child’s chest and told him to hand over the bike or be shot. Keys also reportedly told the victim he would be shot if he called police.
After the two suspects left, the boy called 911.
“He stole my bike,” he told the dispatcher through tears. “I worked so hard for that.”
Prosecutors said Key’s bond was set at $50,000. His trial is set for June 2026. It’s unclear whether the other teen is being held in custody.
