An 11-year-old child who crashed on an electric motorcycle at a Scripps Ranch park was hospitalized with a severe head injury and a leg fracture on Friday evening.
At about 5:28 p.m., officers from the San Diego Police Department responded to reports of a crash at Jerabek Park, located at 10200 Scripps Trail, according to the agency.
Officers found the child with severe injuries and the child was transported to Rady Children’s Hospital for treatment. Officers are investigating the crash.
No one is allowed to ride electric motorcycles in any park in the city of San Diego, according to police.
Much like a regular motorcycle, electric motorcycles must be driven on public roadways and the driver must have a Class C driver’s license and an M1 motorcycle license.
It is legally required for electric motorcycles to be properly registered, insured, and equipped with all safety equipment required under the California Vehicle Code.
