Over the past few weeks, Citroën has made adjustments to the engines of certain models. These adjustments reflect the brand’s ambition to offer customers flexibility and efficient engines tailored to their needs.
C5 Aircross Plug-in Hybrid moves from 195 hp to 225 hp to better reflect the driving pleasure of a versatile version that combines the best of both worlds: up to 113 km of 100% electric range, over 1,100 km of total range and up to 1,550 kg of towing capacity.
Berlingo, the creator of leisure activity vehicles, is expanding its range with the return of an entry-level 110 hp petrol version and the BlueHDi 100 and 130 Diesel engines, complementing the electric ë-Berlingo and its 340 km range (WLTP combined cycle).
SpaceTourer, Holidays and Jumpy are adopting a new 2.2-litre Diesel engine with 150 and 180 hp, offering increased torque and driving flexibility while reducing CO₂ emissions and fuel consumption.
Poissy, 27 February 2026 − True to its vision of accessible, comfortable mobility tailored to everyone’s daily needs, Citroën has in recent weeks announced changes to the engines of certain models. These changes illustrate Citroën’s desire to offer a range of efficient engines that allow customers to choose the most suitable energy source for their needs and budget. These engines provide peace of mind with driving pleasure and optimised fuel consumption. For private customers, these changes concern the C5 Aircross, Berlingo and SpaceTourer, models designed for families and leisure enthusiasts. Jumpy is also affected, with a more powerful and efficient range for professionals.
01. 225hp FOR THE C5 AIRCROSS PLUG-IN HYBRID
The Plug-in Hybrid version of the C5 Aircross is undoubtedly the most versatile model in the range. It has been completely redesigned between the two generations of C5 Aircross, both technically, with a larger fuel tank, and in terms of the engine’s operating logic to reduce fuel consumption, even when the battery is empty, and offer better performance. On this occasion, its power increases from 195 hp to 225 hp in anticipation of the protocol that will be applied when the Euro 7 standard comes into force. This new figure is more accurate in terms of the performance offered by this engine and is consistent with the declarations observed on the market. It does not involve any technical modifications to the engine.
The combination of a battery with a gross capacity of 21.5 kWh and a 55-litre fuel tank makes this C5 Aircross particularly suitable for customers looking for a vehicle that can be driven daily in electric mode and with complete peace of mind when it comes to long journeys.
Performance and efficiency
The Citroën C5 Aircross Plug-in Hybrid combines a 1.6-litre 150 hp (110 kW) combustion engine with a 125 hp (56 kW) electric motor, integrated into the new 7-speed eDCS dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The two engines can operate together or separately depending on driving conditions and the driver’s needs. Three modes are available: Hybrid, Electric and Sport. This combination makes the C5 Aircross plug-in hybrid a particularly powerful and efficient vehicle. With combined cycle fuel consumption of 2.5 litres per 100 kilometres and CO₂ emissions of 55g/km, it is particularly economical.
Up to 113 km in 100% electric mode for everyday use
Thanks to its battery with a gross capacity of 21.5 kWh (17.8 kWh usable), this plug-in hybrid version can travel up to 113 km in urban driving and 96 km in mixed driving in 100% electric mode, representing a 33% increase in range compared to the previous generation. This range allows it to easily cover all daily journeys (34 km on average) without the need for daily recharging. It takes 5 hours and 15 minutes to recharge from 0 to 100% on a 7.4 kW wallbox with the standard 3.7 kW on-board charger, and only 2 hours and 55 minutes with the optional 7.4 kW on-board charger.
Over 1,100 km of range on long journeys
Thanks to its versatility, the C5 Aircross plug-in hybrid meets the needs of C-SUV customers looking for range on long journeys, offering up to 1,100 km of range. On the motorway, its 55-litre fuel tank (+28% compared to the previous generation) allows it to travel up to 650 km in unrivalled comfort for all passengers.
Travel in comfort
With the new C5 Aircross, Citroën offers the most comfortable C-segment family SUV on the market, equipped with the latest technologies for a peaceful ride. The New C5 Aircross has improved in every way and taken on a new dimension in the highly competitive C-segment SUV market. Its powerful, muscular design, while remaining sleek and fluid, incorporates numerous aerodynamic solutions. True to Citroën’s philosophy, the New C5 Aircross offers a true comfort class travel experience, with generous interior space, immense room in the second row and the same boot capacity regardless of the engine type. On board, the driver and passengers enjoy a high-tech cocoon combining progressive hydraulic cushion suspension, Advanced Comfort seats and a modernised dashboard featuring a large, intuitive and ergonomic Cascade touchscreen. This sense of serenity is enhanced by the latest generation of driver assistance technologies, such as Citroën Matrix LED headlights and the Drive Assist 2.0 Pack.
02. CITROËN BERLINGO RETURNS TO MULTI-ENERGY
For almost 30 years, the Citroën Berlingo has been a faithful companion for busy lifestyles. Creator of the leisure activity vehicle segment since 1996, this practical, versatile and functional vehicle has established itself as the benchmark for families and anyone looking for an ingenious everyday companion.
An entry-level 110hp petrol version
The Citroën Berlingo offers a 110 hp petrol engine that combines ease and versatility. This three-cylinder turbocharged direct injection engine develops 205 Nm of torque from low revs, offering a smooth and responsive drive that is perfectly suited to both urban use and longer journeys. Combined with a six-speed manual gearbox and Stop & Start system, it guarantees a controlled balance between performance and efficiency. With a combined fuel consumption of 6.3 l/100 km (WLTP cycle), this petrol version offers a combination of driving pleasure, quiet operation and optimised running costs. An engine that fully reflects the spirit of the Berlingo: practical, accessible and smart.
The return of a Diesel option
In 2026, Citroën will expand the Berlingo range with the reintroduction of the 1.5 Diesel BlueHDi 100 and 130 engines (depending on the market), already available with a manual gearbox and from now on to be available with an automatic gearbox on the 130hp version. This pragmatic decision meets the needs of frequent drivers, families making long journeys and users who do not have access to home charging solutions. These Diesel engines offer great versatility of use while retaining the DNA of the Berlingo, designed to make everyday life easier. They guarantee long-distance range and quick refuelling, two essential assets for active families.
An attractive offer for large families
With emissions between 138 and 151 g CO₂/km depending on the engine chosen (BlueHDi 100 or 130), the Berlingo Diesel offers a major advantage for families with three or more children. These families benefit from a reduction of 20 g/km per child in CO₂ emissions (or 1 administrative horsepower per child for administrative power), as well as 200 kg per child for the penalty linked to the vehicle’s weight. In concrete terms, a large family is thus guaranteed to avoid the environmental penalty, making the Berlingo Diesel particularly attractive.
And still a 100% electric option
Alongside the return of the combustion engine version, the ë-Berlingo continues to impress with its excellent range of 340 km (WLTP combined cycle) and its 50 kWh LFP battery. Perfectly suited to everyday journeys, it can also tackle long journeys with confidence thanks to its 100 kW fast charging (30 minutes to recharge from 20 to 80%) and the e-ROUTES app, which intelligently plans routes. The ë-Berlingo is an ideal zero-emission solution for those with charging capacity.
The benchmark for leisure activity vehicles
Whether equipped with a Diesel or electric engine, the Berlingo retains all the ingredients that have made it so successful. Available in two sizes (M at 4.40 m and XL at 4.75 m) and in 5- or 7-seat configurations, it offers exceptional modularity. Its two trim levels, Plus and Max, allow everyone to find the equipment that suits their needs. Comfort is guaranteed on board, with optional Citroën Advanced Comfort seats and a 10-inch touchscreen incorporating the latest generation infotainment system. Son habitabilité généreuse, ses rangements astucieux comme le pavillon multifonction, son coffre modulable offrant jusqu’à plus de 2 100 litres et ses trois sièges arrière indépendants rabattables en plancher plat en font un véritable champion du chargement, capable d’accueillir des objets volumineux comme les longs trajets familiaux: up to 2.70 m of loading length in the M version and 3.05 m in the XL version when the front passenger seat is folded down.
03. NEW 2.2L DIESEL ENGINE FOR SPACETOURER & JUMPY
The unmissable SpaceTourer, which also serves as the basis for the Camper Van Holidays, has upgraded its engine to better meet the needs of large families and travel enthusiasts.
A new, more powerful and efficient 2.2l Diesel engine
Gone is the 2.0l Diesel engine, replaced by the new 2.2l engine available in 150hp Diesel with manual or automatic transmission, as well as 180hp Diesel with automatic transmission (depending on market). This technical development, which complies with the €6.e standard, results in significantly improved driving comfort and reduced fuel consumption.
On the 110kW (150hp) engine, torque is now 370Nm, an increase of +30Nm compared to the previous engine. It is now available from 1,500 rpm, compared to 2,000 rpm previously, offering more responsive acceleration and increased flexibility, which is particularly noticeable when overtaking or driving with a full load. At the same time, CO₂ emissions are reduced by up to 21 g/km to 170 g CO₂/km with a manual gearbox, with fuel consumption down by 0.8 l/100 km (6.5 l/100 km WLTP combined cycle). With an automatic gearbox, the gain is 11g/km (178g CO₂/km) and 0.4l/100km (6.8l/100km WLTP combined cycle).
On the 180 hp engine, torque remains unchanged at 400 Nm but is now available from 1,500 rpm. Its emissions are also down by 9g/km (178g CO₂/km in the WLTP combined cycle), as is its fuel consumption by 0.3l/100km (6.8l/100km in the WLTP combined cycle).
SpaceTourer: space and comfort for all the family
These gains in performance and fuel efficiency really come into their own in the SpaceTourer, designed to meet the needs of large groups. Available in two lengths (M at 4.98 m and L at 5.33 m), it can accommodate up to 9 passengers while maintaining a height of only 1.90 m, allowing it to access all car parks. The interior focuses on practicality with its 10-inch HD central touchscreen and multiple clever storage spaces, transforming every journey into a moment of shared comfort, whether with family, friends or colleagues.
Holidays: a mobile home for the great escape
For those who dream of unrestricted escape, the Citroën Holidays takes versatility even further. Based on the same platform as the SpaceTourer, this compact camper van becomes a real mobile home with its 4 berths, fully equipped kitchen (sink, 2 gas hobs and 16-litre fridge) and pop-up roof. The swivel front seats and removable table create a living space that can be adapted to suit your needs, while the 10-litre fresh and waste water tanks provide valuable autonomy. For the most demanding adventurers, a rear shower with a 25-litre tank and removable toilet can be added to the equipment, making the Holidays the ideal companion for long-distance getaways.
Jumpy: the utility vehicle ready for anything
This engine upgrade also benefits the Jumpy in its utility version. With a load volume of up to 6.6 m³ in the XL version, a payload of up to 1,341 kg and the same low height of 1.90 m, it meets the requirements of professionals while offering the same torque and fuel efficiency as the version for private individuals.
An electric range tailored to specific uses
ë-SpaceTourer is particularly suited to the needs of professionals (shuttles, taxis, etc.), local authorities, businesses, clubs and associations, families and “tribes”. ë-Jumpy is the ideal tool for tradespeople and delivery drivers. The electric powertrain guarantees sufficient range for the vast majority of their daily journeys, unprecedented driving comfort that is smooth, quiet and vibration-free, access to restricted areas with zero CO₂ emissions, and reduced running costs.
The 100 kW (136 hp) motor is still available with two types of lithium-ion batteries, allowing each customer to choose the one that best suits their business based on their usage and preferences. The 50 kWh battery offers a range of 224 km (WLTP combined cycle), which is perfectly suited, for example, to daily shuttles between the city centre and the airport. More versatile than ever, the ë-SpaceTourer and ë-Jumpy equipped with the 75 kWh battery offer a range of up to 350 km (WLTP combined cycle, pending approval).
They are equipped with a 7.4 kW on-board charger and can be fitted with an optional 11 kW three-phase charger for easy recharging. Using a 7.4 kW wall box, the 50 kWh battery can be fully recharged in 6 hours 40 minutes and the 75 kWh battery in 11 hours 20 minutes. Using an 11 kW wall box, a full charge can be achieved in 4 hours 50 minutes for the 50 kWh battery and in 7 hours 30 minutes for the 75 kWh battery. Using a 100 kW fast charger, it takes just 38 or 45 minutes to charge the battery from 20% to 80%.
