A child called 911 after a subject with a gun stole his e-bike on Feb. 6.

GILBERT, Ariz. — Gilbert police have released camera footage showing an officer detaining an 18-year-old suspected of stealing a child’s e-bike.

On Feb. 6, a boy was riding his bike near Greenfield and Elliot roads and was confronted by two individuals, one of whom threatened the boy at gunpoint to hand over his bike, according to police.

The child then called 911 and provided a description of where the theft occurred, according to a portion of the call released by Gilbert police.

“He stole my bike,” the boy told the 911 dispatcher, “I worked so hard for that.”

Gilbert police were able to track down a person in possession of the victim’s bike and was taken into custody. The suspect, who was allegedly in possession of a handgun, was identified by police as Dyllin Keys.

Court records show Keys is facing charges of armed robbery and aggravated assault.

Police said a 14-year-old was also taken into custody and could be facing charges for allegedly being involved in the incident.
