So I bought one of the first i3's off lease back in 2017. I was a big fan of electric cars (had been following the development of the Chevy Volt for years) and it was SO much better than the Kia Soul EV at the time. It has been by far my favorite car that I've ever owned. It is a BLAST to drive and the first time my son sat in the back and heard the electric whine of the engine that BMW had present he exclaimed "It sounds like a spaceship!" and it truly was futuristic in 2017.
So given that the i3 is no longer being produced what is the best version of that fun EV "hot hatch" out there now?
My understanding is that a hot hatch is qualified as:
- Small but NOT a 2 seater (must have actual backseat that fits teens at least)
- Hatchback (duh)
- Sporty drive with tight turning radius
I looks like the upcoming Alpine A290 would qualify but unfortunately that may not be coming to America. So what are the cars that you would consider similar to those?
