MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – A 63-year-old woman riding an e-bicycle on the Business 20 service road was killed Friday night after being hit from behind by a semi-truck according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
DPS said the crash happened around 7:35 p.m. on Feburary 6, near County Road 1103 in Midland County.
Investigators said a 2020 International truck with a trailer, driven by 34-year-old Alejandro Morell Rodriguez of Odessa, was traveling eastbound on the Business 20 service road when it struck the e-bicycle from the rear.
The bicyclist, identified as Tamara Jan Cates of Midland, was pronounced dead at the scene. DPS said Rodriguez was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is available at this time.
