After 4 years of Electric Vehicle EV charging my Ford F150 Lightning and Tesla Model Y at home, my setup finally failed — and it wasn’t the car or the charger. I started with a Hubbell NEMA 14-50 outlet because Ford included a free mobile charger, and I never upgraded to a hardwired EV charger, even though I knew it was the better long-term solution. Adding a second EV exposed the weak links: a failing breaker and a worn outlet. In this video, I walk through what broke, why NEMA 14-50 outlets can fail under continuous EV charging, and why I’m needing to switch to hardwiring for reliability and safety. Learn from my mistake before it happens to you.

This hit close to home as I have Hubbell Industrial outlets with the heavier wiring and quality breaker box installed in my house, and my Mom's, by a master electrician.
