Volkswagen has announced that it is knocking up to £950 off a select range of its plug-in hybrid models.
The reductions vary, but there’s at least £750 off the Passat, Tiguan and Tayron models for customers who place a factory order from today (4 February), and £950 off for lucky purchasers of the Passat ‘Elegance 1.5 TSI eHybrid 272 PS 7-speed DSG’ model.
VW says that its latest initiative is about “making electrified motoring even more accessible”, and who’s going to turn their nose up at a bit of a discount? Even if it does represent less than 2% of the purchase price.

The three cars are all reasonably new in the Volkswagen line-up – the Passat estate and Tiguan SUV have both been available since early 2024 and the Tayron is a more recent addition, going on sale at the beginning of 2025.
The Tayron is the largest of the trio, going up against rivals like the Peugeot 5008, Skoda Kodiaq and Hyundai Santa Fe. It is available with seven seats in petrol guise, but sadly the battery here means that you only get five seats in the plug-in version.

All three Volkswagen PHEVs feature the same 19.7kWh battery, which nets you 74 miles of electric WLTP range in the Tayron, 75 miles in the Tiguan and an impressive 82 miles in the more svelte Passat.
As with all plug-in hybrids they make the strongest case for themselves if you’re able to charge up regularly at home, but these models can all be rapid charged at up to 40kW too if you need to juice up on the move.
