GWM New Zealand has announced pricing for the all-new Tank 300 Hi4-T, which is set to land locally in two grades.

The plug-in hybrid Tank 300 offering will start with the Lux at $63,990 and finish with the Ultra at $68,990.

With the addition of plug-in power to the Tank 300 range, buyers in New Zealand now have the option of petrol, diesel, hybrid and PHEV.

The Tank 300 Hi4-T PHEV is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with an electric motor. Peak outputs for this system sit at 300kW and 750Nm of torque.

Combined fuel economy is rated at 1.9L/100km, but it’s worth remembering this figure was achieved with a charged battery.

The pure electric range is rated at 105km according to NEDC testing, thanks to its 37.1kWh lithium-ion battery.

It is able to fast charge at up to 50kW, which will charge from 30 to 80 per cent in 24 minutes.

As the name suggests, it also gets a fancy mechanical four-wheel drive system, with a low-range transfer case plus front and rear locking differentials.

It is also rated to tow up to 3,000kg braked.

“With the Tank 300 Hi4‑T PHEV, we’re continuing to expand our cutting-edge plug-in hybrid technology providing genuine off-road strength, all at a highly competitive price point,” said John Kett, GWM’s Chief Operating Officer.

“As demonstrated across our other PHEV variants, we remain committed to delivering vehicles where customers can benefit from strong EV-only range, fast charging, V2L and true mechanical 4×4 capability. As the new Clean Car Standards (CCS) are likely to change the New Zealand automotive landscape like never before, GWM stands ready to deliver more technology for less.”

This new Tank Tank 300 Hi4‑T PHEV will be available in GWM around the country in late March.
