Lucid Motors will enter Belgium “this summer,” an executive announced Monday, as the premium EV maker prepares to expand its European presence and overhaul its regional business model.
“Today, I’m proud to share an important milestone in Lucid‘s European journey: This summer, we will officially enter the Belgian market, marking the next step in our regional expansion,” European head Lawrence Hamilton wrote on LinkedIn.
Hamilton called Belgium “one of Europe’s most advanced EV markets.”
“Belgium is one of Europe’s most advanced EV markets — with high BEV adoption, a strong charging ecosystem, and a customer base that values design, performance, and innovation,” he wrote.
“And Belgium is just the beginning. We remain committed to growing our presence across both existing and new markets in Europe,” the executive wrote without revealing details on the changes for the current markets, such as Germany.
The company hosted a media roundtable in Brussels ahead of the announcement and partnered with Antwerp-born DJ Matthias Geerts for a promotional video featuring three Lucid vehicles in the colors of the Belgian flag driving through the country’s streets.
“We’re open to conversations and additional retail partnerships that share our ambition to actively drive the brand forward,” Hamilton added.
The expansion to Belgium comes amid weak demand for its debut model since the brand’s European arrival.
As reported by EV on Sunday, the brand registered zero units of the Air sedan in the Netherlands throughout January —for the second time in three months.
Partnership Model
Flanders Investment & Trade, the agency that facilitates American direct investment in the Flemish region, confirmed last week that Lucid would open its first Belgian location this year — as reported by EV.
“Lucid‘s innovative approach to electric vehicles — combining luxury, performance, and cutting-edge technology — will now be within reach for Belgian drivers,” the agency wrote on LinkedIn.
EV first reported in December 2024 that Lucid was planning to enter Belgium and move away from relying exclusively on the direct-to-consumer model it had used during its first years in Europe.
Hamilton confirmed the report in January 2025 when Lucid participated in the Brussels Motor Show for the first time that month.
However, the expansion was delayed by a year.
Gravity Deliveries Delayed
Lucid had planned to begin European deliveries of its Gravity SUV in January, with management previously aiming to deliver some units before the end of 2025.
As of Monday, the company had not announced any Gravity deliveries across its four European markets.
Last September, interim CEO Marc Winterhoff said production of European Gravity units was already underway.
EU Expansion
Lucid plans to expand into eight additional European markets in 2026, tripling its continental footprint to twelve countries.
Hamilton confirmed that Denmark and Belgium will be among the new markets, while Winterhoff said France will be included.
The UK, Italy, and Spain are also among the markets Lucid is preparing to enter.
