Volvo Cars today unveiled the new Volvo EX60, a fully electric mid-size SUV that redefines the largest electric vehicle segment in the market in terms of range, charging speed, performance and price.
The five-seat, family-friendly EX60 puts an end to ranging anxiety and delivers groundbreaking user experience, while also marking Volvo Cars’ next major step forward in safety. It is also the company’s first entry into the world’s largest electric segment, enabling Volvo Cars to significantly increase its addressable market and electric vehicle share.
“The new Volvo EX60 changes the game in terms of range, charging and price, and represents a new beginning for Volvo Cars and our customers,” says Håkan Samuelsson, CEO of Volvo Cars. “With this car, we remove the remaining obstacles to going fully electric. It is also a testament to what we are capable of at Volvo Cars, with a new product architecture that introduces key technologies such as mega casting, cell-to-body technology and core computing.
Class-leading range and ultra-fast charging
The Volvo EX60 delivers up to 810 kilometers* of range on a single charge in its all-wheel-drive configuration, placing it among the best in its class. It not only surpasses every electric car Volvo Cars has built to date, but also outperforms recently unveiled competitors, setting a new benchmark for the segment.
This no-compromises approach is also reflected in charging speed. A short coffee stop is enough to get back on the road: the EX60 can add up to 340 kilometers of range in just ten minutes** when using a 400 kW fast charger.
In other words, the EX60 turns range into everyday comfort and demonstrates that going electric no longer requires compromise. Design, engineering, hardware and software work seamlessly together to optimize driving range while delivering performance comparable to many combustion-engine vehicles.
A simpler and more transparent customer experience
The EX60 purchasing journey has been designed around simplicity, transparency and precision. Customers benefit from full clarity on pricing, including equipment and estimated delivery times. Buyers can choose a pre-configured vehicle for immediate delivery or opt for a fully customized car with a slightly longer delivery time***
The EX60 is available with three electric powertrain variants:
P12 AWD Electric, offering up to 810 km of range, P10 AWD Electric, offering up to 660 km of range and P6 Electric with rear-wheel drive, offering up to 620 km of range. In total, the EX60 is offered in seven attractive variants, designed to suit different needs and lifestyles****
The vehicle comes with a 10-year battery warranty. In Sweden, the EX60 will also be launched with three years of free home charging for private customers, an offer that will be gradually introduced in other markets.
New electric architecture and lower carbon footprint
The EX60 is built on SPA3, Volvo Cars’ new electric vehicle architecture, and is powered by HuginnCore, the company’s core computing system. This foundation sets new standards for scalability, modularity, manufacturing efficiency and cost.
Technologies such as cell-to-body, new in-house developed electric motors, a new battery cell design and mega casting improve energy efficiency, extend driving range and reduce vehicle weight.
Together, these innovations help the EX60 achieve the lowest carbon footprint of any fully electric Volvo, matching that of the smaller EX30 and making the EX60 an even more sustainable choice.
Scandinavian design with purpose
The EX60 brings Volvo Cars’ Scandinavian design principles into the all-electric era. It combines a stylish, confident and efficient exterior with a calm, refined and versatile interior made from natural, high-quality materials, complemented by smart storage solutions.
A low front, sloping roofline and tapered body sides enhance aerodynamic efficiency, resulting in an impressive drag coefficient of just 0.26, which contributes significantly to its class-leading range. The long wheelbase and flat floor provide increased rear-seat legroom, along with a large luggage compartment and multiple smart storage spaces.
For music lovers, the EX60 features a premium 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system, which for the first time in a Volvo includes headrest speakers for all four main seats. It is also the first Volvo to come with Apple Music pre-installed with Dolby Atmos, delivering an immersive spatial audio experience.
An intelligent car you can talk to naturally
As Volvo Cars’ most intelligent car to date, the EX60 is packed with state-of-the-art technology designed to enhance everyday driving. Powered by the latest generation of HuginnCore, the vehicle can think, process and act. Volvo Cars combines in-house development with strategic partnerships with leading technology companies such as Google, NVIDIA and Qualcomm Technologies.
The EX60 is the first Volvo to launch with Gemini, Google’s new AI assistant. Deeply integrated into the vehicle, Gemini enables natural and personalized conversations without the need to remember specific commands. Its introduction reflects the long-standing relationship between Volvo Cars and Google, as well as Volvo’s role as a key development partner and reference hardware platform for Android Automotive OS.
The EX60 infotainment system delivers the fastest and most seamless user experience ever offered in a Volvo, with highly responsive screens, instantly loading maps and voice assistants that better understand passengers.
One of the safest cars on the market
True to Volvo Cars’ DNA, the EX60 is one of the safest cars on the market and represents the purest expression of the Volvo Cars Safety Standard, exceeding regulatory and rating requirements.
Enabled by HuginnCore, the vehicle continuously assesses its surroundings through a wide array of sensors, resulting in a clear and precise understanding of the environment. Volvo Cars’ multi-adaptive safety belt, a world-first and award-winning innovation, offers smarter and more personalized protection for front-seat occupants.
The EX60 is designed to improve overtime through over-the-air (OTA) updates, ensuring that a car that is outstanding from day one continues to get better throughout its lifecycle.
The Volvo EX60 is now available for order in Europe, with the United States launch planned for late spring. Production will begin this spring at Volvo Cars’ manufacturing plant in Sweden. Customer deliveries of the P6 and P10 variants will start this summer, followed shortly thereafter by the P12 variant. Launches in Latin American markets will take place during the second half of the year, with timing varying by market.
