EVUK focuses on providing clear and reliable information about EVs for buyers, journalists and policymakers.

Its mission is to make electric mobility easier for car buyers to understand by challenging misinformation and campaigning to remove barriers to adoption, the press statement read.

Commenting on the partnership, BYD UK country manager Bono Ge said: “We are delighted to be joining EVUK to fully support its mission to increase consumer awareness of electric vehicles.

“Together we aim to explain the various benefits of owning an electric car – from a smoother, quieter drive, responsive performance and reduced running costs – by providing accurate information to the public.”

BYD, which describes itself as the UK’s “leading” new energy vehicle manufacturer covering fully electric and plug-in hybrid models, said it will support EVUK’s engagement with consumers, policymakers and the media on battery EVs.

As part of the partnership, BYD will gain access to EVUK’s consumer-focused events, while the two organisations plan to coordinate their public, industry and press activity more closely.

According to BYD’s press statement, the collaboration is intended to reinforce EVUK’s fact-based communication around EVs and to ensure BYD features in wider national discussions on EV ownership.

EVUK CEO Tanya Sinclair added: “I am delighted to welcome BYD as a partner of EVUK. They are innovators in EV technology and are among the global manufacturers moving away from fossil-fuelled vehicles and accelerating the UK’s transition to an all-electric future.”

A recent report said BYD is rethinking its India strategy – including the possibility of local assembly – as rising demand and import restrictions are limiting the Chinese electric vehicle maker’s growth in the country.
