Great Wall Motor (GWM) has officially launched its premium plug-in hybrid MPV, the Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV, in Malaysia. The vehicle, which was introduced to the Thai market in November 2025, is now available to Malaysian consumers at 269,800 MYR (68,700 USD).
The Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV becomes the first locally assembled luxury plug-in hybrid MPV in Malaysia, highlighting GWM’s long-term commitment to positioning Malaysia as a strategic manufacturing hub and regional export center for ASEAN markets. The launch event on January 29th showcased GWM’s ambitions to strengthen its new energy vehicle portfolio in Malaysia.
The Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV features dimensions with a 5,050mm length and a 3,085mm wheelbase. The vehicle boasts a flat floor design, 11 USB charging ports throughout the interior, and a three-row seating configuration. These specifications are closely aligned with the domestic Gaoshan 7 model (5050mm length, 1960mm width, 1900mm height, 3085mm wheelbase), with the G9 Hi4 being slightly wider.
The front seats are wrapped in Nappa leather with ventilation and massage functions, while the second row features Nappa zero-gravity seats with one-touch folding capabilities. At a cruising speed of 120 km/h, the cabin maintains a 63.4 decibel noise level, complemented by a premium 21-speaker, 2,440-watt audio system.
Powering the Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV is GWM’s Hi4 intelligent hybrid system, which combines a turbocharged engine with dual electric motors for front and rear axle propulsion. The system delivers 442 hp of combined power and 642 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 5.7 seconds.
The vehicle is equipped with an intelligent Torque Vector Control (iTVC) system that optimizes torque distribution. The Hi4 PHEV system offers up to 170 kilometers of all-electric range for daily commuting and a combined range exceeding 1,000 kilometers.
Additional features include a 3.3 kW power export function for outdoor activities and a built-in 12.5-liter refrigerator.
The Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV’s arrival in Malaysia follows its launch in Thailand last November, where it was priced at 2.349 million Thai Baht (USD 73,000), continuing GWM’s expansion throughout Southeast Asia.
