NACS (North American Charging System) is Tesla’s proprietary charging system. It relies on a unique plug design that was initially limited to the automaker’s vehicles, but now, the system is open to a number of other manufacturers, with more soon to come.
Non-Tesla NACS Access
While some automakers have begun installing NACS-capable charging ports in new EVs at the factory, some brands and slightly older models may require an adapter to access the system. As of early 2026, these are the companies offering NACS access, either via an adapter or factory-installed charging port.

Some automakers, including Ford, allow drivers to initiate charging sessions and even pay. Others offer some functionality through charging settings in the infotainment system or app. Stellantis vehicles, including Jeep’s 4xe plug-in hybrid models, are scheduled to gain access to the Tesla network soon.
