The feature I actually love? Reverse gear. On a scooter. If you have ever tried to awkwardly paddle-walk a bike backward out of a parking spot while trying to look dignified, you know this is that little thing that changes the equilibrium in your favor.
Honda is building these in Thailand first, with plans to expand to Vietnam. Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, so we don’t know if it will cost as much as a kidney or a sandwich. Honda also mentioned a battery recycling program. As someone who worries about where all these batteries go when they die (scooters heaven? A landfill in Jersey?), I’m keeping a close watch on that.
The UC3 isn’t fast, the charging speed is glacial, and you can’t swap the battery. But it’s honest. It’s a Honda. And sometimes a simple electric mule is exactly what the doctor ordered. Just bring a book for the charging station. A really thick one.
