Gas stations provide a variety of uses to drivers, but over in the electric car capital of the world, infrastructure looks different from what you’d expect.
Due to the rise in popularity of electric cars, the need for gas pumps has decreased, and charging stations are taking over.
So, forget your usual shelter jam-packed with gas nozzles; in one European country, there are charging hubs as far as the eye can see.
The best part, though? There is more than one type to choose from.

The electric car capital of the world has interesting infrastructure
Worldwide, the popularity of EVs has been increasing at a record high, with more on the road than ever before.
Now, though, as more EVs are traveling from state to state and country to country, these cars need more dedicated areas to charge.
And this is where one country excels.
Over in Europe, Oslo in Norway is known as the electric car capital of the world, and the city has a unique way of dealing with the increased demand, known as energy stations.
But forget your standard Supercharger block with only a few pumps, this Norwegian version is kitted out to the max, and over on the YouTube channel Out of Spec Reviews, one of the presenters explored the area.
A whopping 32 chargers with a range of voltage outputs to suit different EVs are on offer, in the space where a car would usually park to fill up with gas.
“This site is always packed when I drive past it,” explained the YouTuber.
The site uses Kempower DC fast chargers with power from charging satellites to support the individual charging hubs.
You may be thinking, why so many?
Well, the YouTuber explained that in Oslo, EVs make up around 50 percent of the vehicles on the road.
So, forget the standard gas-powered Nissan driving past; you’re more likely to see a Tesla.
Despite the EV demand, pumps at gas stations are still alive and kicking
Even though there are more EVs on the road than gas cars, there are still some pumps for those drivers to utilize.
In this particular station, there are four gas pumps, but as you’d expect, the electric chargers are more heavily relied upon.
“I think there is a decent amount of power on this site and a decent amount of power to be delivered to each car,” he explained.
The electric power acceptance doesn’t just stop there, either.
On the same street, the McDonald’s also has EV chargers in the parking lot, but as the charging infrastructure is so impressive and active in Oslo, only a few chargers are actually needed.
So, there you have it.
The electric car capital world pretty much has a whole gas station full of chargers to make drivers’ lives easier.
The station also has car washes and a convenience store, too, to really be a beacon for passing drivers to utilize at their own expense.
