Chinese battery maker Svolt, a subsidiary of Great Wall Motors, has just announced a new battery pack for plug-in hybrids (PHEVs). The company claims this battery has the world’s largest capacity for PHEVs at 80kWh.
What’s even more impressive than the capacity itself is the fact that the battery is advertised to charge from 10% to 80% in less than 10 minutes.

The battery has a highly integrated design which achieves a 6% increase in energy density, the company says. Its cells incorporate ultra-fast charging graphite technology. This helps it reach that fast charging rate.
Svolt targets 61 GWh of battery shipments this year, which is a significant 50% increase compared to 2025.
