Spanish motorcycle market in 2025 gained the second place in Europe outpacing France. Total registrations reached 254,949 units, up 7.1% year on year, marking the highest level in the past 20 years. While Chinese manufacturers are booming, Piaggio Group falls down sharply.

Economic Outlook

Spain’s economy has performed strongly in recent years, expanding by a cumulative 10% since the fourth quarter of 2019 and significantly outperforming its European peers. This strong momentum provides a strong foundation for tackling longer-term challenges. Policy should focus on continuing structural reforms and securing fiscal sustainability to maintain growth and prepare for future shocks, according to a new OECD report.

The latest OECD Economic Survey of Spain says that GDP growth will remain robust at 2.9% in 2025 and gradually decelerate to 2.2% in 2026 and 1.8% in 2027. Consumer price inflation will continue to decline to 2.3% in 2026 and 1.8% in 2027, after 2.6% in 2025.

Motorcycles Market Data and Trend

The Spanish motorcycle market continues to benefit from one of the fastest-growing economies in the European Union and remains among the strongest performers in the region, supported by robust demand for both leisure and commuting models.

In 2025, while the other four major European markets recorded volume declines, Spain stood out with a positive performance. Total registrations reached 254,949 units, up 7.1% year on year, marking the highest level in the past 20 years. As a result, Spain overtook France to become the second-largest motorcycle market in Europe, behind Italy.

Market growth was supported by strong demand for electric two-wheelers, with registrations up 15.1%, as well as expansion in both the scooter segment (+15.0%) and the motorcycle segment (+5.4%).

Performance of Leading Manufacturers

Honda maintained its market leadership, with 2025 sales rising 11.3%, driven primarily by its best-selling models, the PCX 125 and NSS 125 Forza.

In second place, Yamaha delivered more modest growth of 4.1%, following the exceptional +27.3% increase recorded in the previous year.

The standout performer was Zontes, which surged into third place with a remarkable +140% growth rate, fuelled by the strong success of the ZT 368 G.
Voge also delivered an exceptional performance, climbing to fourth place with sales up 84.8%, driven largely by the DSX 950.

Among the remaining major players, Kymco posted marginal growth (+1.1%), while SYM performed more solidly (+12.9%).
BMW ranked seventh with sales up 4.3%, followed by Piaggio (-40.4%) and Kawasaki (+1.1%).

The performance of the Piaggio Group in Spain was particularly disappointing. Aprilia saw sales decline by 29.3%, while Moto Guzzi suffered an even sharper drop of 47.6%, highlighting significant brand-specific challenges in a market that otherwise showed strong momentum.
