BYD SEAL U DM-I – Understated SUV With INSANE Acceleration!
The BYD Seal U DM-i Design looks like every other SUV on the road. Bland exterior, anonymous styling, nothing that makes you look twice. Which is exactly why everyone is missing what this thing actually delivers. Under that forgettable bodywork sits a dual-motor plug-in hybrid system pumping out 324 horsepower through all four wheels, launching this two-tonne family SUV to 100 kilometres per hour in just 5.9 seconds. That’s faster than most hot hatchbacks.
The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine works primarily as a generator for the 18.3 kilowatt-hour battery, delivering 70 kilometres of pure electric range and combined fuel consumption of just 1.2 litres per 100 kilometres with CO2 emissions sitting at only 26 grams per kilometre. Inside, you get a massive 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, 12.3-inch digital instruments, head-up display, heated and ventilated vegan leather seats, panoramic sunroof, Infinity premium sound system, 360-degree cameras, adaptive cruise control with steering assistance, and full cabin air purification. The complete package costs CHF 45,090 in Switzerland, around £40,000 in the UK, or approximately €40,000 across Europe. A comparable Volkswagen Tiguan PHEV with similar equipment costs nearly €49,000. The Seal U Design proves the most interesting performance doesn’t always come in the most interesting package.
