Jasion RetroVolt Pro: The Electric Bike Revolution We’ve Been Waiting For

Hey, what’s going on guys? Thanks for tuning in. Check out this bike in front of us. This sweet looking bike is from Jay-Z. This is a Retrovault Pro and guys, this thing looks sweet. We’ve worked a lot with Jay-Zon in the past and we absolutely love their bikes. They make a fantastic product and also they make it affordable as well. So, you know, you can get this bike for just $10.99 and I think it’s a fantastic deal for a 52vt ebike, especially with the way it looks. You get that long saddle for a passenger. You can also save 3% on this bike. So, it’s a little more than $33 by using code EH3. All right. So, what we’re going to do is we’re going to go over the features and specs, and then we’ll take it out on our first ride and give you our first riding impressions. So, this bike is pretty lightweight for the size at 82 lb. So, easy to pick up and carry around and move around, you know, if you need to store it away, whatever, take it down some stairs, this is definitely doable. Now, as far as the rider weight goes, this thing will handle riders up to 330 lbs, and we won’t have to worry about that being 260 lb. So, it’s nice to see a large capacity riders could ride this bike without any issues. This thing has a top speed up to 38 mph. So, the battery that you have on here is a 52vt 20 amp hour battery, and they say you should be able to get up to 90 miles of range on a single charge. Now, as far as taking the battery off, you want to put your key in, turn it to the left, this thing will slide up. You also get a power level meter here, and you hold that down, it will tell you how full it is. We have a full battery right now for our test. So, powering this bike up to speeds of 38 mph is a 200 W motor, and it also has a 30 amp controller. So, guys, some serious power on here. And the rated torque is 99 new m of torque. So, we should have some pretty good power, pretty good torque, and we should have no problems getting up hills and stuff like that. So, this thing should be a blast to ride according to the specs. Now, you’re also getting 20×4 in puncture resistant tires. These are fat tires and they are covered with these plastic fenders, so no rattling like you would on metal fenders. We actually prefer the plastic fenders because we don’t like the rattling and stuff like that. noise while you’re riding is no good, especially on an ebike that’s supposed to be almost silent. You also get dual hydraulic disc brakes on here, so we should have some good stopping power. And of course, we’re going to test those out. You get foot pegs on here for a rear passenger. You get this nice long, comfortable, nicely padded seat that will fit another rider on the back. So, love the long saddle on here. Now, as far as from the ground to the seat, it’s 33 in. So keep that in mind when you’re trying to measure out this bike to see if you’re going to fit. You also get a really nice rack on the back. And I love this gradient paint. So it goes from like a light gray to a black. Definitely love the look of this. You also get full suspension on here. So rear and front suspension with those front forks. I do not believe the front forks are adjustable or the rear ones. So um no adjustability with suspensions. You also get a rear tail and brake light. This is functioning. You also get turn signals on the bike which are built into this light. Now, as far as physical gears go, this is a moped style bike, but they still give you a seven-speed Shimano on here if you are interested in pedaling. As far as the crank set goes, you get a pretty large crank wheel on here. And the crank arms are decently long. They’re not too long, and we’ll see if these things drag or scrape on rocks or the road while we’re turning. This might not seem like a big deal, but I love to see these power buttons on the batteries. So, to prevent drain when the bike is just sitting, you can actually turn the battery off and no power will drain from the battery. So, really nice. You also get your charging port on the battery as well. Now, moving over to the front of the bike, you see this nice headlight with this halo going around. This should be pretty bright while you’re out riding. And it also has a high beam as well. It does not have the built-in turn signals in this headlight. So, no front turn signals. You do have your front plastic fender here with your 20×4 in puncture resistant tire in the front along with your hydraulic disc brake. Now, again, like we said, you get front suspension, but these forks are not adjustable, so keep that in mind. Now, there is our turn signal. Would love to see it a little brighter as this is kind of like faded. So, we’ll see if maybe they can improve this on future models. All right, so we’re on the Jay-Z Retrovolt Pro and right off the bat, it’s pretty comfortable bike. Has a pretty good pickup to it. And what we’re going to do is we’re going to do a brake test. After the storm’s being here, we’re going like 32 mph here. We’re going to really test these brakes. Oh, we locked them up. But I mean, that’s pretty impressive. We’re going 32 miles an hour. Usually when I lock them off, I just like to like let off and slowly just let it come to a stop because I will peel out, especially going downhill. But pretty good job with the brakes here. You know, they are hydraulic. So, we’re going to do a top speed test here. Seems like those brakes are sticking. So, probably just got to wear them in. They say we should get up to 38 miles per hour. All right. So, we hit 33. So, 33 miles per hour. So, still not bad. I mean, that’s definitely pretty good. You also got to factor in wider weight and stuff. I’m 260 lb. So, uh, I’m a a bit on the heavier side. So, of course, it’s not going to move me up to the top speed that, you know, someone a lot lighter, maybe 100 lb lighter would be. Yeah, those brakes are really sticky. You can tell they are the brakes cuz when I squeeze them, the sound goes away. So, maybe we have to go in and maybe loosen them up and kind of realign them. Maybe they’re too close to the rotor. Now, as far as the response for the throttle, so it’s pretty instant. So, I’m actually really impressed with this. I mean, that is a pretty instant throttle response, which is awesome. So, a lot of these bikes, they have a a really long delay. And guys, check this out. So, full power. I mean, that’s pretty instant. Let’s check uh the pedal assist here. All right. So, that’s like a half half second delay. Still pretty quick in my mind as far as, you know, other bikes are uh compared to this. The sensor is actually pretty good. So, it feels pretty good. And pedaling is actually quite comfortable on here. And I love that long saddle. Uh, having the passenger on here, especially with those foot pegs in the back that they give you, they’re really nice. Really nice to be able to have someone ride with you with that long saddle. I think more bikes should be coming with long seats. Yeah. So, those brakes, just don’t mind the brakes. I mean, that’s not really a quality issue on the bike. That just means I have to realign the the rotor with the brake pads. I’m going to do some light trail riding with this and see how it does. Seating position is really good. I actually like the position down here. You got that kind of uh retro moped style. And for just under $1,100, you kind of get that like super semi-free feel with it without that giant price tag on there. I mean, you’re paying, you know, you pay up to 5,000 plus for a Super 73. And I think this has better performance. You know, it can definitely go faster. Definitely has more torque. The motor is more powerful than the Super 73. So, when you’re looking at value, this thing brings a lot to the table, especially with Jay-Z. Jay-Z is really a wellrespected company and they have a really good track record with their products. We’ve had a lot of their bikes on the channel and we loved all of them. They make a a great foldable bike with the EB7 and also I think the Hunter Pro. Really fantastic products and I think this is their first real electric moped uh you know retro style moped uh that they’ve had in their lineup. And I think they did a really good job as far as like the specs go and and what you get for the money. front forks. Uh they’re okay. Again, they’re not adjustable, so you kind of get what you get with this, but they’re doing a really good job taking the bumps and stuff. I’m actually really impressed with how it’s handling the trails here, cuz this bike is not made for off-roading. It can definitely do it, but how good can it do it? And this thing is really impressive. So, they’re really good. I apologize for the brakes. I should have tested that before I went riding, but that’s kind of the beauty with these first riding impressions is kind of seeing what happens just in case you have to, you know, fix something or you run into similar issues on the bike itself. Controls are really easy to reach. You have your headlight here. You also have your turn signals. And again, you only get turn signals in the rear, so keep that in mind. Your horn is not really loud, but again, like we said, for people that are walking and stuff, you don’t want to stir people too much. So, that might be a good a good thing, especially for any bike that’s almost silent. The controls as far as like your speedometer, your tometer, your odometer, your voltmeter. So, we can move over to our voltmeter. We’re at 52 volts right now. So, you’re getting a little voltage shot, but that’s to be expected with any of these bikes. But, it’s really nice to get the voltmeter on here that will tell you, you know, what your true battery percentages. You can kind of prepare for that. Some of these battery displays are kind of not really calibrated well. So, some people think they have, you know, 30% and all of a sudden the bike dies. So, but yeah, front suspension is really flush. Definitely doing its job. The rear suspension is doing okay as well. I we didn’t really notice any issues with the trail riding or any, you know, bumps in general. Like I said, those brakes are probably the only thing we’re really noticing. And uh those are quite loud, but let’s see what brakes they are. So, so with our left brake lever, uh when we squeeze it, so we’ll just have to bed these in. A lot of times you got to bed them in. It’s probably, you know, a lot of the times our brake test will kind of do that to the brakes. It’ll make it stick. So, but definitely loving the throttle response. It is instant. So, that is really good. A lot of these have a big delay on them. Really easy to maneuver. All right. So, this is the hill climb test with the Jay-Z Retrovolt Pro. And we’re going to do throttle only. This is pedal assist level five. That really makes a difference. We are at about 70% battery. And we’ll see how it does on this hill. Here we go. Oh, we’re going 11 miles an hour already. About 15 miles per hour. And who knows? I don’t know if that brake is is sticking. So, that may be affecting our hill climb pass speeds here, too. So, who knows? We’re at 13 miles per hour on the 12 and a half on the steepest part of this hill. So, not bad. I mean, a really decent offering at just under 1,100 bucks. You really can’t beat it. And then if you use our code EH3, you get 3% off, which equals about a little over $33, which is pretty good. It’s, you know, saving anything is is pretty good. So, and it helps out the channel and it helps us keep reviewing and making content like this. All right, guys. So, there is a JZON Retrovolt Pro. And honestly, besides the brakes, and that’s not really like a quality issue with the bike, that just means we got to align our brake pads with our rotor. It is a fantastic offering at 1,100 bucks. You really can’t beat it. And like we said, you can use our discount code in the description below, EH3, which will save you 3% on this bike. But honestly, for a retro style electric moped, it is a really attractive bike. I mean, the styling is pretty awesome. Uh, you get that Super 73 vibe without that huge, ridiculous price tag with better performance, you know, at a fraction of the price. So, if you guys have any questions for us, leave them in the comments section below. We get back to everybody. And guys, as always, thank you for watching. We really appreciate you. Until next on, peace
