Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid – More Power, Less Smarts
The new Porsche Cayenne SE hybrid costs $8,000 more than the base hybrid. For that premium, you gain 49 horsepower, but sacrifice the very thing that made the base model compelling. This is a luxury SUV that proves more power doesn’t always mean smarter buying.
The 2025 Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid sits in an uncomfortable position. It costs $105,100, placing it $8,000 above the base E-Hybrid while delivering only 49 more horsepower. The turbocharged V6 and electric motor combine for 512 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque, hitting 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. But the base model does it in 4.6 seconds for significantly less money.
Real-world electric range falls short of expectations. The 25.9 kWh battery delivers around 20-27 miles depending on conditions, trailing the BMW X5 xDrive50e’s 40-mile capability. Once the battery depletes, you’re hauling 650 pounds of hybrid components on premium fuel. The S E-Hybrid works for buyers who want middle-tier positioning but delivers questionable value compared to the base hybrid or stepping up to the 729 hp Turbo E-Hybrid.
