Cheapest EV Ever? $11k Electric Car Is Coming to the UNITED STATES
[Music] There is no electric cars you can buy in the United States that cost less than $20,000. They can be actually driven on the road. In fact, there’s none that are below $25,000. But that appears to be about to change with this $12,000 electric car, which is being imported by Stellantis. Should you consider one of these? Well, in my opinion, probably not. But some of you might might disagree with me. I’m I’m curious to know if you would consider buying one of these as a second car. Hello my friends. Welcome to the channel. I’m Sam Evans. Great to have you with us. This tiny EV is selling for under $12,000 in Europe and it’s coming to the United States. And is this a key car or a K car? No, it’s not a K car. It’s a European micro car. I think it looks great. I’m not convinced it’s going to sell that. Well, less than a week after President Trump called Japan’s K cars really cute during a White House meeting. One of the other things we’re doing, it’s separate from this meeting, but I think everybody here would agree with it. If you go to Japan, where I just left, and if you go to South Korea and Malaysia and other countries, they have a very small car, sort of like the Beetle used to be with the Volkswagen. They’re very small. They’re really cute. Meeting with Stellantis CEO Antonio Felosa, Ford’s Jim Farley, General Motors Mary Baraher, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk in attendance. Well, it looks like we’re going to see these in the US. At Miami Art Week, Fiat CEO Oliver Francois announced that the company is planning to launch the ultra compact Topelino EV in the United States. After a few appearances in the United States, including at last month’s LA Auto Show, I slanter said the car is creating tremendous excitement among consumers. So much so, the company is planning to make it available for US buyers. I’m happy to share that we’ll be bringing the Fiat Topino to the US, said Francois. When’s it coming? Well, they said more details to come next year. So, it sounds like the car is coming next year. And I think this car works pretty well in a lot of dense European cities. I’m not so sure how well it’s going to work in the US. In in Europe, it only costs 9,890, which is $11,500. But this thing is very small. Doesn’t have a whole lot of power. Here are the details. It’s 2.5 m long, right? 2530 mm or 99.6 in. So, it’s actually called an electric quadricycle in Europe. And it’ll be the same thing in the United States. In Germany, and I believe in France as well, it can be driven by 15y olds completely. You don’t have to have a someone sitting next to you with a full license. But its specs are a little bit um a little bit anemic to be honest. If you compare this vehicle, I mean, if you tried to sell this thing in China for €9,000, you’d never sell a single one because in comparison to what you can get in China, it’s extremely expensive. Anyway, 5.4 kWh battery is what it comes with and 8 horsepower electric motor and it has 75 km or 46 mi of WLTP range. This would be all right. I think it was maybe say $7,000, but at that price I think um I don’t think it’s going to sell that well. Apparently though, you can charge the battery in 4 hours using a 240 volt outlet. So, I mean it could be fine, right, for a second car. definitely would never be a first car. I’m going to be really intrigued to see how well it sells in the US, but I think the better option here would be to do what Honda are doing, right? Honda is selling their K car in places like Southeast Asia, Australia, and other places as well that they should sell in the United States cuz that’s a much much better car than this. I mean, it’s got, you know, nearly 200 km of range. It’s got plenty of power to do 110 km easily on the freeway. U I believe it’s got, you know, aboutund and something horsepower. So, but that’s a small K car. It’s a little bit bigger than this though, so you can actually get people in the back seat. And pricing in Japan is approximately $15,000. It’s a massively overpriced in comparison to China, but still something like that would be a much better choice as a second car, I think. Anyway, guys, what do you think? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for watching. Honda’s new mini electric car is shockingly good. I’m surprised this is actually a proper EV that I think a lot of people will buy, especially if it’s priced well. Hello, my friends. Welcome to the channel. I’m Sam Evans. You’re watching the Electric Viking. Great to have you with us. Honda, this is their new EV. They just revealed this today and we know a few details about it. We know the size, the range it has. We know it has vehicle to load technology that’s been approved from Honda, which is great. I mean, no one would have expected that. I think that’s a a huge surprise. The range is um not awesome, but um it’s not too bad. First of all, it has 47 kW. That’s 63 horsepower. Doesn’t sound like much, but I mean, this is not a particularly big car. It has 150 mi of range. That’s 245 km. So, what else do we know about this vehicle? Well, for one, it was just revealed in Japan. And these cars in Japan are well, they’re the most popular type of car you can buy. These small key cars, they call them. It’s a boxy car. And I think that makes it kind of practical. You know, they have a pretty short bonnet. So, it’s sort of basically a box that I think looks not bad for a box, but you know, 3.4 m long. That’s how big it is. 3,400 mm long. That’s 134 in. And yeah, I mean, 50 kW DC charging apparently, which is bit disappointing, but I think the range isn’t too bad. 152 mi of range, 245 km. That’s not too bad. Now, there isn’t too bad. 152 mi of range, 245 km, that’s not too bad. Now, there is a van version of this. It’s called the NV van. Uh, and that’s actually not a bad car as well, I’d say. But interior wise, what do you what do you guys think about the interior? I think it looks very, very, very budget. surprisingly budget, but um kind of weirdly retrocool. I don’t know why. Weirdly, guys, I just did a video today on a new electric car. Well, an updated version of an EV you can buy in China. It’s literally one/ird of the estimated price of this car. One/ird. It has a big touchcreen using it utilizes deepsek AI. Uh it has similar range to this vehicle. So these Japanese micro cars, they they’re pretty cool, but Chinese ones are even better and they are much much much cheaper. So that’s what it has to compete with. But in China, there’s not a whole lot of Chinese key cars yet. There will be pretty soon, though. One pedal driving. There’s still a lot of electric cars that don’t have single pedal driving. You’ve got to use the brake in an EV, and I think it’s better not to have to do that. So, one pedal driving is one of the features apparently that this does have. There’s a shelf below the touchcreen as well that provides an obvious place to put your smartphone. [Music]
Cheapest EV Ever? $11k Electric Car Is Coming to the UNITED STATES
A new ultra-low-cost EV priced around just $11,000 is reportedly heading to the United States, potentially becoming the cheapest electric car ever sold in the market. This could disrupt the entire EV landscape by putting pressure on legacy automakers and accelerating mass adoption. The arrival of such an affordable model may redefine what Americans expect from entry-level electric mobility.
