The car was intended to be one of the domestically produced limousines for government officials, but the project never went beyond the production of a single prototype and its display at several exhibitions.

The prototype was stored in the institute's backyard and, in 2013, was sold to a private owner to make room for the "Cortege" project for the Russian president which what we known as Aurus Senat.

The Volga-Cortege limousine was built on the GAZ-31029 Volga chassis with a ZMZ-402 402-liter engine, with a displacement of 2.4 liters and 100 hp, is used as the powertrain, a four-speed manual transmission, and drum brakes. It had the top speed of 145 km/h.
