When traveling long distance, do you take the highway system or the interstate system?

I usually opt for highways, whether it be US 90, US 17, 41, 441.

Mainly because I get the best fuel economy between 55 and 60, and there is less to be worried about, usually the roads are in better shape compared to the interstate roads.
