2025 Toyota Corolla Walkaround

[Music] The story of the Toyota Corolla begins with a simple promise. Always improve. Built here in Britain at Toyota’s factory in Darbasher, the Corolla reflects the pride of an expert team skill and dedication. And with more than 50 years of heritage behind it, it should come as no surprise that the Corolla can comfortably claim the title of world’s favorite car. Over time, more than 50 million drivers have placed their trust in it for their everyday journeys. Available in the UK as a hatchback, touring sports estate, or commercial model, it’s versatile and widely celebrated in independent awards for its reliability and durability. Every Corolla in the range is electrified and features Toyota’s highly regarded fifth generation hybrid technology, delivering more power and setting a new benchmark for efficiency and driver appeal. And while we’re on the subject, it’s also worth spotlighting Toyota’s reputation for safety. The Corolla helps to protect what matters most, you with a mix of active and passive safety systems that give drivers and passengers lasting peace of mind. But for me, what really makes the Corolla’s accolades meaningful are those that come from owners, the families, professionals, and drivers throughout the world who choose it again and again. So, what really sets it apart and what keeps people coming back? Let’s take a closer look. [Music] First impressions count, and the Corolla stands out the moment you see it. It’s exterior design delivers a bold, aerodynamic shape that balances modern detailing with classic proportions. And those sharp lines and sculpted surfaces aren’t just for show. Together with a couple of bits you can’t see, they reduce air resistance for better fuel efficiency and a quieter ride. There are some great details. A striking front grill, signature LED headlights, and on this GR Sport Edition, byone paint, and sporty 17-in alloy wheels. I love how the front end makes such a confident statement. And there’s something really dynamic about the way the headlights sweep back, giving the car a bold, modern edge. For me, it’s clear the team behind the Corolla have poured so much care into every element, right down to the paint finish. And then there’s the breadth of choice offered by the full range of Corollas available in the UK. You’ve got the hatchback for everyday versatility, a Touring Sports if you need that extra boot space for family or adventures, and even a commercial version for business users. The hatchback and touring sports come in four distinct trims, icon, design, GR Sport, and XL. Each one offers its own set of features, so you can really pick the level of tech and comfort that fits your budget and your needs. For example, the Icon is brilliantly equipped straight out of the box, while the XL gives you a real touch of luxury. And the GR Sport, like the one we’ve got here in the studio, brings dramatic looks and a sporty edge to the lineup. The Corolla Commercial keeps things refreshingly simple. There’s one grade and you get everything you need. With a durable, secure cargo area and two seats up front, it’s comfortable and practical. And there’s dual zone automatic air conditioning and a customizable 12.3 in digital drivers display just like the passenger models. [Music] It’s worth mentioning now that the UK Corolla range is powered exclusively by Toyota’s latest fifth generation self-charging hybrid electric system. As a self-charging hybrid, there’s no need to plug in, just refuel and go. With 1.8 8 or 2 L options, you’re always getting a drive that’s smooth, efficient, and low on tailpipe emissions. Both engines deliver a rewarding blend of power and efficiency, with the 1.8 producing 138 brake horsepower and the 2 L delivering 176 brake horsepower. Each is paired with a smooth electronically controlled CVT automatic gearbox. This setup ensures seamless acceleration and refined performance across the hatchback, touring sports, and commercial variants. Official combined fuel economy figures start from 64.2 mp gallon for the hatchback Icon, and CO2 tailpipe emissions are as low as 100 g per kilometer, depending on the model and grade. This means you can benefit from improved fuel efficiency and lower tailpipe emissions while still enjoying comfortable everyday performance. It’s a car that’s as easy on your wallet as it is enjoyable to drive. [Music] Step inside the new Corin hatchback and you really see the attention to detail. The first thing you notice is how modern and wellthought out the cabin is. There’s a real sense of space and the quality of the finishes is topnotch. [Music] In the featured GR Sport Edition, you’ve got supportive sport seats with part leather bolsters and red stitching for a bit of extra flare. The cabin is brightened up by fresh LED interior lighting throughout, making every journey feel welcoming, day or night. The digital cockpit is a real highlight with a fully customizable 12.3 in display that you can tailor to suit your mood or your journey alongside a crisp 10.5 in touchscreen with Toyota Smart Connect Plus multimedia, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and even overthe-air updates to keep your tech future proof. Toyota’s latest Safety Sense system has also had a serious upgrade. There’s a brand new front camera and radar, which now see twice as far and much wider than before. The pre-colision system is even smarter, now able to spot hazards at junctions and in two-lane traffic. And it can even gently suppress acceleration if it senses something’s not quite right. Features like emergency steering assist, enhanced adaptive cruise control, and a clever new proactive driving assist all work together to help make every drive feel more relaxed and secure. Of course, all that comes with class leading comfort. You’ve got all the comforts you’d expect with the option of heated seats and dual zone climate control. There’s a wireless phone charger and impressive sound insulation for a peaceful drive. The My Toyota app’s remote features are great, and the system feels designed to make day-to-day life simpler. You can check your car’s status, which means you can get realtime updates about your Corolla’s key information right on your phone. On chilly mornings, you can warm up the cabin in advance or defrost the screen. Plus, the app lets you lock or unlock the doors and even open or close the windows remotely. And if you ever need to spot your Corolla in a busy car park, just flash the hazard lights at the touch of a button. It’s all about making life that little bit simpler and smarter every single day. Now, if you need more space, the Touring Sports takes all that comfort and technology and adds enhanced flexibility. You get up to 596 L of boot space, clever storage solutions, and you’ll love the two-position load floor. The rear seats fold flat at the touch of a lever, and there’s a detachable tono cover, perfect for family gear, sports equipment, all those last minute weekend escapes. Finally, the Corolla Commercial brings all that quality and tech into a van that’s built to work hard. The cabin is robust and easy to clean with all the essentials for business. Advanced safety features, digital displays, and a comfortable driving position for long days out on the road. It’s proof that you don’t have to compromise on comfort, tech, or build quality, no matter which Corolla fits your life best. [Music] Having just driven this car myself and after reading what the experts from mags like Auto Express, Auto Car, and Carthink, I can honestly say the reviews get it spoton. The first thing you notice is just how smooth and refined the whole experience is. Toyota’s fifth generation hybrid system delivers power in such a natural, predictable way that whether you’re darting through city streets or settling in for a motorway cruise, the car always feels composed and responsive. The cabin is noticeably quiet, too, a testament to the improved aerodynamics and sound insulation, which just helps make every journey that bit more relaxing. I found the ride genuinely comfortable, soaking up bumps thanks to the suspension setup and that stiffer, more rigid body. Acceleration feels smooth and responsive, and the steering is accurate, helping you feel in control on every journey. The 2 L theoretical range of 581 miles means the Corolla can handle cross-country UK road trips with ease. It could take you from Brighton to Liverpool and back again. [Music] If you’re still on the fence, I completely get it. Choosing a new car is a big decision. But what really stands out for me after driving the new Corolla and digging into all the details is just how well-rounded it is. You get Toyota’s reputation for reliability, up to 10 years or 100,000mi Toyota warranty, a hybrid system designed for improved efficiency and lower running costs, and a driving experience that’s easygoing and comfortable. The lineup is flexible. There’s a hatchback, a super practical estate, and even a commercial version if you need it for work. Each model offers a range of clever tech and comfort features with availability depending on the grade you choose. From the smooth, quiet drive to the little touches that make life simpler, the Corolla is proof you don’t have to compromise.
