Electric Car Powers entire home! V2H!

I just used the Elejoy vehicle to home inverter to power my house completely off-rid from an electric car. Here’s how. First, turn off the house main breaker to the grid. Slide the interlock and turn on the backup power breaker. Then, plug in the generator cable into the bottom of the inverter and the other end into the backup power inlet. Open the cabinet door. Turn on the breakers and press the power button. You’ll see the screen turn on. Then plug the cable into the electric car. Wait a moment and the V2 starts powering the entire home. You’ll see real-time power usage, voltage, and the car battery state of charge on the main screen. I tested the vehicle to home inverter running lights and all sorts of appliances in my home. Uh the furnace blower, uh the well pump for water, fridge, freezer, microwave oven, and all sorts of other devices. They all worked great. Okay, so how often during a blackout do you just do laundry? cuz you know you can you can use the app to remotely show realtime power use. The app also lets you control the maximum discharge of the electric car battery and automatically disconnects at that point so you cannot accidentally completely run down your car battery. In a whole evening of testing intentionally drawing plenty of power, it only drew the car battery down just a few%. What what’s really cool about this is uh there is no gas generator going putt putt putt. There is nothing to say that we are um running on backup power at all. It’s like the lights are on, things are working and it’s just kind of hoham. And like that’s kind of the cool thing with electric cars, too. It’s like you just drive them. They just work. But yeah, it’s pretty cool just being on battery backup power right now and everything’s normal. My I think my wife’s just inside reading and yeah, it’s pretty cool. I’ve definitely been having fun testing out the vehicle to home system. Uh make sure you check out the video description for links and more information and also the playlist. I’ve got quite a few videos about powering your whole home off of electric vehicles. So, make sure you check those out. And until next time, stay charged

This Vehicle to Home (V2H) inverter is a device made by Elejoy to power your house off-grid by converting DC power from your electric car to AC power for your house.

I have it connected to a 50A generator input and an interlock in my main breaker panel. This feeds power out to ALL the circuits in the home.

I tested out all my major appliances (including the well pump!), lighting, and whatever other loads I can think of to try it out.

The V2H is “Split-Phase” for U.S. homes, meaning that it provides the proper 60 hz 120V AND 240V power we are all used to. It’s rated at 7,000 watts continuous and 8,000 watts peak.

The V2H acts similar to a portable generator. It has outlets built right in to it, but by using a breaker interlock or manual transfer switch, you can power an entire building. Like any generator, it is NOT an electric car charger and is NOT designed to connect to the grid.

Compatible with:
* Tesla Model 3/S/X/Y that support CCS and third-party NACS DC charging. More compatible brands and models will be added in the future. So far, it’s been successfully tested with Ford Mustang Mach-E and Hyundai Ioniq 6.
