




Kia Stinger – While it broke a couple of hearts when it came out with no manual transmission, that absence was quickly forgotten about, as buyers (from my brief stint as a car salesman, folks trading these in were sad to part with them) loved the RWD, space inside, and quality of the interior, and the relative zippiness of the turbocharged engine. These can be had for as low as $15K today and still fly off lots wherever they show up.
Genesis G70 (First Gen) – This one came with hype as while the engine was a meager 2.0 liters, it was a turbo, RWD v6 that came with a manual transmission, that your wife wouldn't nag you to sell to get something that had more room for groceries, errands, and kids. While folks were out off by the lon clutch and long throw of the shifter, I've seen very few complaints about these. Early gens can be found for as low as $14,500.
2021 Volvo S60 T6 – This one sits more firmly in the luxury section of the group, but is no slouch with a twincharged (yes, Turbo + Supercharger) engine that comes with 316hp. Probably the roomiest/biggest of the bunch, it's pretty, you can pull up to work/dinner dates/reunions in one of these and probably gaslight everyone into thinking you're a big shot lawyer or doctor. Not to mention, Volvos–while known for their horrid phantom electrical problems (ask me how I know)–are still very much the safety tanks that could get rear ended by a city bus and stroll away with a dented bumper, while the bus would likely be totaled. 2021s can be had for as low as 18k from what I've seen.
2016-2019/Last Gen Ford Taurus SHO – one of the two most powerful cars on this list, this one perhaps holds the crown for off-the-lot sleeper status, as it comes with all wheel drive, twin turbos, 350 hp (stock, with owner reports of 500hp after a simple tune and new headers + exhaust), and looks like a car a proper businessman would drive. I've seen these go for as low as 14K, with the last model year (2019) going for around 17-22K.
1st Gen Alfa Romeo Giulia – Essentially a coupe cosplaying as a sedan, this car is probably the most sporty-dedicated out of the whole lineup, relatively light weight, not as roomy in the back though one could still sit, RWD, and manual transmissions offered outside of the US market. Not to mention, it was a pleasantly surprising departure from Alfa Romeo's notorious reliability problems, as I haven't seen too too many complaints about it in that regard. It comes off the lot with 280 hp for low trims, with 505 available with the Quadrifoglio. By far the cheapest on this list, as I've seen first gens (2017) go for as low as 10K on Car Gurus.
While I'm a Volvo boy and love the way the S60 looks, gotta say the SHO takes it for me. How about you guys?
