The WAR on EV OWNERS BEGINS – And it’s Worse than you think! Pay Per Mile | TheCarGuys.tv
Welcome to the car, guys. And just when you thought your virtuous move to an electric vehicle was working out for you, the UK government pulls the rug right from under you. Yes, it’s true, folks. Recent newspaper reports have revealed that almost all EV benefits have been eroded, if not eliminated. Now, you might face a price per mile charge, even if you’re driving in an entirely different country. It’s a bold strategy, Cotton. Let’s see if it pays off for them. This week, I’m going to look into exactly how big a shaft you are now facing if you bought into that much publicized EV future. What benefits you thought you were going to have which are now under threat, and what a huge con buying electric vehicle will be from next year. You get nothing. You lose. Good day, sir. So, that sounds like your special kind of poison chalice vodka. Let’s get on with it. It’s not looking great, is it boys and girls? You were promised untold financial savings, green, virtuous, planet saving, smug points, effortless, quiet driving pleasure, and a world free of the shackles of oil. In short, a bright, ecologically virtuous, shining future if you would just buy an EV and rid the world of those horrible petrol and dieselg guzzling automotive dinosaurs. But all that promise is crumbling into your plant-based liberal peace harmony musli as one by one the reasons to buy EVs are being eroded by the very people who forced you into them in the first place. the government, mainstream media, and of course, faceless NOS’s backed by globalists. It’s the biggest you since the global financial crisis and that virus of an unknown origin. And it was all done under the banner of fear known as climate change, of course. And what do you know? It’s going to affect you financially, your personal freedom, and it’s going to leave you with an electric car that feels more like a millstone around your neck than an instrument of liberation. That’s putting it mildly 007. Now, let’s make one thing clear. I don’t have anything against electric vehicles, although personally I would never own one. If you want to use electricity to power your personal mode of transport instead of petrol, I couldn’t care less. And if you have an open mind, as more than two million of you have and have watched my previous big EV lie video, you’ll know that I said exactly the same thing three years ago. My problem has always been that the government has been using fear to approve legislation and force us into EVs instead of just allowing their benefits to lead to an eventual end to the internal combustion engine. It would be like world governments suddenly banning flip phones and forcing us into smartphones. Analog phones didn’t survive because digital ones were demonstrably better. No one needed to demonize the old technology. We all decided to adopt them of our own free will. EVs though are a different story. And whilst there are many tangible practical lifestyle benefits to owning them, including cheaper price per mile, improvements in city air quality, they’re quieter, easier to drive, always connected, reduced maintenance, and of course, tax benefits. There are also though many reasons not to buy them. Notably, loss of personal privacy, the ability for governments to influence and track your mobility, the impact of batteries and component production on the environment of other countries, safety aspects of failure of new technology, the cost of replacing batteries of damaged cars, the high price of electricity since EVs were introduced, not a coincidence. depreciation and low residual values of EVs, long charging and refueling times, lack of charging infrastructure, and an inability for people without drives to charge them at home. Boy, that escalated quickly. And now there are many more reasons to resent them because the supposed benefits of owning them are rapidly evaporating. So, let’s go through them, shall we? EVs were originally going to be vehicle excise duty exempt. This was a big advantage over internal combustion cars, which have always had to pay a sliding scale of extortionate taxes per year just to be allowed on the roads. EVs are now to be charged road tax, and this will increase every year. Electricity charges were meant to be far cheaper than buying petrol for equivalent mileages, but it now costs about the same to charge your EV as it does to buy a tank of petrol from service stations. Are you serious? And let us not forget that the price of home electricity has increased 50% since 2021. Of course. And if you don’t have a private home with a drive, how on earth are you charging using that preferential home electricity rate? Buying an EV would smash the reliance on foreign oil supply. This idiotic xenophobic view shows a shocking lack of world knowledge. They use alternative energy. There’s nothing clean about this. I mean, who do you think owns all that renewable infrastructure that you’re lapping up thinking that it’s making you free from oil? If the whole world decided to go electric tomorrow, we don’t have the transmission lines to get the electricity to the cities. It would take 30 years if we started tomorrow. Green car grants make EVs cheaper to buy new. Sorry to that little bubble, but the UK plug-in car grant was abolished in 2022. And the current electric car grant has a cap of £42,000, resulting in a measly £1,500 grant, which doesn’t mean a lot considering that most EVs are considerably more expensive than their internal combustion counterparts. Exemption from big city congestion zones and clean air charges. It makes sense, doesn’t it? If you have an EV, obviously it doesn’t generate fumes. So, it’s only right that you don’t pay for the many speurious clean air zones in our cities. Well, from December 2025, EVs are no longer exempt. So, incredibly, that means that zero emission vehicles will now be subject to a clean air tax. EVs are far greener than internal combustion cars and will result in the lowering of global emissions. Uh, have you seen the resources required to make an EV? Where it all comes from, its carbon footprint, the rate of replacement, and what happens when it all needs to be replaced. No one keeps an EV long enough for the lifetime emissions chart to make any sense. So, stop fooling yourself that you’re saving or improving anything. you are being fooled into buying something even more expensive and damaging to the environment than your existing regular car. So, that’s six big reasons for buying an EV and six big old lies that are now completely undone. It’s a disgrace. And now here’s the real kicker. Newspapers have just announced that in the UK at least and coming to a country near you, no doubt, electric vehicles will be subject to a price per mile charge in addition to the loss of benefits I’ve already highlighted. After all, how else are governments going to replace that lost tax revenue from petrol unless they start clobbering EV owners as well? As you can see here, the chancellor could unveil a 3p per mile levy on EVs on top of other road taxes as she desperately tries to fill a huge black hole in the public finances. This could leave drivers paying between £250 and £300 annually by 2028 based on typical use. Hybrid cars would also face a new but lower charge. Up to 6 million extra EVs are predicted to be on the roads by the time the scheme is up and running. A payper mile road taxation system has been discussed by governments and industry experts for years. However, up to now, it has been regarded as too politically toxic. So, in case you didn’t hear me at the back, EV owners will soon be paying a whole new tax that petrol car owners do not. And it’s dependent on how much you travel and where. Bet you didn’t expect that, did you? But wait, there’s more. Oh, and there’s a further sting in the tail because it’s also been reported that the new price per mile tax will apply to EV drivers driving on foreign roads. Drivers visiting France would pay the new tax on top of the pay tolls which exist on French motorways, effectively taxing them twice. On average, a 1,530 mile trip from Calala to Nice would cost an extra £45.90. Critics of the new policy said that the fees applying on nonUK roads was unfair and a huge flaw. And how is this new ridiculous mile charging policy possible? For the very same reason that EV owners think their cars are so good in the first place. EVs are always connected. They are online and all your driving information is stored and able to be accessed. You signed up to the terms and conditions that allow car companies, charging companies, and the government access to your data. And it’s now going to be used automatically and quietly to send your monthly mileage to the Department of Treasury so that they can send you a nice bill. Charging by mile has been mooted for a while for all cars, but one of the big roadblocks has been the amount of admin and checking it would require to verify drivers mileages in conventional internal combustion vehicles versus the benefit in the revenue collected. EVs though, well, they’ve made it easy, haven’t they? How long before you’re charged for peaktime driving to encourage you to stay off the roads when the government doesn’t want you there? Will the school run cost you more than driving midm morning, for example? How long before your driving habits and hours could result in additional charges? Having fun in Yorkshire this weekend were you, sir? That’ll be another 50 quid. We all suspected it was coming, but we had no idea it would happen this quickly and this blatantly. At least with the older petrol cars in the car guys garage, I can go where I want. I’m not under a constant surveillance. I can refill anywhere. It doesn’t cost me as much because petrol has actually gone down this year. And if I’m doing something the government doesn’t like, they can’t shut my car down with the click of a button. Maybe now’s the time to reconsider this EV future that’s been rammed down our throats by globalists and reject it. Just a thought. Thank you for watching this episode of The Car Guys.
