22 Q8 prestige side mirror damaged

I damaged my side mirror on the driver side while backing out from my garage. The side mirror is functional and all the sensors are working but the rim cover and casing are broken. I reached out to local mechanics and body works shops to get an estimate. They mentioned that I have to replace the entire side mirror as audi is notorious for repairs and it would cost 2.5k in total. I am reaching out to the community to see if it is true and if I can’t just replace the rim and the outer casing. I taped them together as the hook that joins them broke.
