Mazda 6 Is Returning To Australia! Here’s Everything You Need To Know #mazda #sedan #electric #cars

This is the fourth generation Mazda 6 to be called the 6E. It will be all electric and will launch in Australia in the second quarter of 2026. This is a joint venture with Chiangan Automobile in China and it will come from the Chinese production factory. But the Australian car will have a unique 78 kWh lithium ion phosphate battery, 190 kW rear wheel drive, more than 500 km of WTP range, a price of under 55,000 list price, and 30 to 80% charge in around 15 minutes. Like some of its Mazda 6 predecessors, this car is a liftback that looks like a sedan. So underneath its full tailgate, 456 L in the boot. It has a 70 L frunk. It is 56 mm longer, 50 mm wider, 41 mm taller than its Mazda 6 sedan predecessor, and it rides on a 2900 mm wheelbase. So this is quite a sizable car that is also quite tall and has some really cool features. We have a fake grill at the front that does light up for much of it, at least in this lefthand drive show vehicle. And we have frameless doors which are quite beautiful and these pop out door handles. The rear lighting signature in the 6E is particularly distinctive. Mazda has name checked the RX7 series 6 and series 7 for these circular lights here. But this little patent effect in the middle and this indented part here is completely unique and really quite distinctive on the road. First impressions of the 6E interior are really positive. Starting with the frameless doors, which I do love, and the thunk of the sound of them when they close. The interior here, 14.6 in screen in the center. This lovely two-tone with this sort of fluffy suede of some kind. Looks like kangaroo brown. It’s perforated and quilted in the centers of these seats. This seat doesn’t have height adjustment, but it does have heating and cooling, as does the driver’s seat. Twospoke steering wheel, gear selector on the column, little driver’s instrument display. really quite nice with a pretty good view. Little bumps over in the bonnet here and there’s really nice padded headrest here. The upholstery in here in this two-tone is beautiful. The 6E’s rear seat is pretty good. Quite roomy. Fully flat floor. A little bit tight for toe space under this seat all the way down, but plenty of leg room. Not too bad in the headroom department for me being kind of short. You can though open the sunroof yourself from the button here next to the temperature control for the rear air vents. And the seat is pretty good too. Nice on the outside, not so bad in the middle, quite nicely angled, and a pretty good view. Mazda hasn’t specified how many variants of the 6E are going to be on sale in Australia, but we expect perhaps a couple. This is likely to be the top spec given its fluffy, nice interior and the 19-in wheels. Probably called a Tenza like its predecessor, but we don’t know which version is going to be under 55,000. It may be the base model and it may be this one. I would expect the former.
