Is Zoonlai Falcon Electric bike one of the best to Travel with?
[Music] I swim, I’m singing. Take me to a world of silver. No more heartb breaks, tears, painkillers. Take me somewhere unfamiliar. Bring me back to where we started off. [Music] Get me out of now. [Music] where we started off. [Music] Get me out of now where we started out. Hey everybody, welcome back to ebike random adventures. Today I got for you a small folding electric bike. This one is called the Zoo Live Falcon. On this Falcon, you get a 500 watt nominal 750 watt hub drive motor in the rear. That’s powered by a 48vt 10 A battery that’s tucked up here in the frame. Supposed to give you a claimed top speed of up to 24 miles per hour. We will try that out. They also say it has a claimed range somewhere between 29 and 43 mi. That’s going to depend on a lot of factors like rider weight, riding conditions, how fast you’re riding the bike, how much pedaling you actually do put in compared to how much throttle you use. I’ll take it out and ride it a while. See how the range is going to end up looking for me. I am 215 lbs. probably a little bit oversized for this bike, but it actually does have a claimed weight limit of up to 330 lbs. I’d have to say a couple key selling features of this bike are going to be that it’s foldable, portable, lightweight, does have a large rear rack. It’s going to be very useful. Guys, this bike only weighs in at 53 lbs. This is going to be so much easier to fold up, put in the back of your vehicle. That’s pretty much only half the weight of some of the large moped style bikes that I review on this channel. This bike has a pretty neat look to it, guys. It kind of reminds me of a bike I would have wanted to ride around when I was a kid. Bike don’t have any suspension on it whatsoever. No suspension up front. It is a hard tail in the rear, but it does come with these 20 x 2 1/2 in fat tires. Uh if you don’t pump them up too tight, these are probably going to give you a little bit of suspension bounce. Uh the other thing you could do is get a suspension seat post for this seat right here. The seat that comes on it right now does have some padding, guys. Uh but it is a little firm when you ride it out on the road. They do say riders as small as 5’2 all the way up to 6’2 could ride this bike. This is what the seat looks like on minimum, guys. But it still is a step over frame. And if you step over the basket, you still got to swing your leg over that. I did measure this frame. It is about 26 27 in that you need to step over right here. Let me put the seat up. I’ll show you how I fit on the bike. I am 6′ tall with 32 in inseams. Wow. It does come with a really long seat post. This is the minimum insertion line. Does say 33.9 millimeters. If you do want to find a suspension seat post for this, the seat does have the little nylon insert, guys. Sometimes this kind gets pushed all the way down in the tube. On this kind of bike, the seat post tube goes all the way through. So, you can actually flip flip the bike over. You can use this seat post and you can push that nylon ring back out of there if it gets shoved way down there. It’s happened to me a couple times on different bikes like this. That’s actually the seat on maximum, guys. Uh, that can definitely fit a rider taller than 6’2. I’m going to put it here about halfway down. Ah, yeah. I still got it up pretty high. Of course, the handlebars can be raised and lowered just by using this quick release mechanism. They do have the numbers on the back to show you what level it’s at. Right now, this is on one. That’s almost at maximum extension. Just use the quick release and you can drop these way down. Lock it tight. Fully adjustable. All right, guys. Let me bring you in a little bit closer and take a look at the bike. Here’s a look at your wheels and tires. The website did say these were 20 x 2 1/2 in tires, but it says right on them 20 by 3 in tires. Here’s a look at the tread pattern. It is a knobby tread. They’re not real deep. Uh, these ones don’t make a whole lot of road noise since they are a little bit smaller than the 20x4s. Here’s what your brakes look like. Mechanical disc brakes. They do say speed. These are 160 mm disc rotors. Like I said, no suspension here on the front. You do get the same 160 mm rotors on the back. There’s a look at your kickstand. Here’s a look at your rear rack. It is nice and wide. Plenty of space on this one. Uh, this bike doesn’t have an integrated tail light, but it does have a rechargeable light back here that you can turn on. That’s pretty cool. This is what the frame looks like. There’s a little port where you charge up your batteries underneath that rubber piece. There’s the hinge where the bike folds. Kind of slopes down towards the back. It does have a handle welded in right here where you can pick the bike up. That’s nice. You do get the quick release mechanism up here on the front tire. So, you can just pop this off. You don’t need to use any tools. The bike does have metal fenders. Here’s a look at the crank set. It does have the double-sided chain guard. It’s going to help keep your chain on. This one does come with the plastic folding pedals since this is a folding bike. Back here in the back, guys, you only get one gear. And they got this little on there to keep the chain routed properly. There’s a look at the numbers on your 500 watt nominal 750 watt peak hub drive motor. Here’s a look at your display, guys. You do power it up here on the bottom. Press and hold the button. You do get this color display. I’ve seen this on some other bikes before. Uh battery is a little low because this is after the ride. Uh your plus and minus for your pedal assist levels is right down here below it. You get one, two, three, four, five levels of pedal assist. You get your speedometer. Cycle through your power button. You get trip, odometer, maxes, averages, back to trip. There’s your battery life up there in the corner. These are what your brake levers look like. Mechanical disc brakes so you can adjust the cables right here. Get some rubber hand grips. This is your headlight switch. This one does have a nice bright four beam headlight. And you get a horn, rather loud horn. On the right side, you do get a twist throttle. And you do get a quick release for your handlebars right here. This is the release mechanism right here where you’re going to open this to fold the bike. Battery is mounted here in the frame tube. There is a little handle here. If you need to get the battery out, you can pull on this handle. Of course, you need to remove the key from the bottom. This is what the bike looks like all folded up, guys. It didn’t want to stay upright, so I just let it lay over. Uh it’s definitely more compact like this. Guess you could get this in the back of an SUV, back of your van, or take up less room in the back of your truck. All right, let’s take this Zoom Live Falcon out for a ride. All right, guys. We’re out here on the Zoom Live Falcon. Let me try to pedal it with no power at all. It only has a single single gear on this one. So, takes a little bit of effort to get it going because it’s a pretty high gear. Once you get up to about 9 or 10, pedals pretty nice. You wouldn’t want to pedal it too long with no power at all, though. It’s light enough. It’s just the the gear ratio is geared for a little bit higher speed. So, you got to put in some effort to to pedal it. All right, let’s try pedal assist one. Power came on. [Music] There you go. Pedal assist one gives you 15 miles an hour. And that’s also a pretty good pedaling speed. Like the gear ratio that’s on here feels it feels nice to pedal at on pedal assist one here. 15 mph. Bump it up to two here. A little bit windy out here today. Pedal assist 2 is giving us 18 miles an hour. And this thing is set up with five pedal assist levels. We’re already at 18 miles an hour. Uh you can still pedal on pedal assist, too. Let’s try three. Pedal assist 3 tops you out at 22 miles an hour. You can still keep up pedaling, but it’s getting to be a pretty fast cadence. So, for uh four and five, I’m probably going to be using throttle only. Before we uh go check the top speed, let’s check the hill climbing ability on this hill right here. Put it in pedal assist 5. This is throttle only. [Music] [Music] All right, we made it up the hill about 12 miles an hour. kind of the average speed is about 13 miles an hour. So, it’s kind of right there with the with the 750 bikes. This is a 500 W continuous 750 W peak motor on this one. Let’s check pedal assist 4. We got enough space here. getting about 25 26 mph on pedal assist 4. I’m curious to run this one against the radar gun cuz the website only has a claimed top speed of 24 miles an hour and it was showing us 25 26 on pedal assist 4. So, we’ll get up here. We’ll flip it around. We’ll see what this thing can really do. Let me do a little brake test while I got a chance from about 20 here where this uh pavement cuts off. [Applause] pulled them a little late, but definitely got it stopped. Uh was able to lock up these 20 by3 in fat tires no problem. And these are just mechanical disc brakes, guys. They are the speed branded ones and they do have the 160 mm rotors. So, but yeah, not too bad. This bike’s pretty light. This thing is only 53 lbs. So, doesn’t take quite as much stopping force to get this one stopped. All right, guys. Let’s do an acceleration run and then we’ll see what our top speed is against the radar gun here. Throttle only. [Music] There’s 20. [Music] The bike did get up to the claim top speed of 24 mph with me on it at 215 lbs. Speedometer is slightly off. It was showing us like 26 or 27, but the radar gun was showing us the 24. I did have to put in a little bit of pedaling to get to 24. Throttle only was was giving me 23. I’m not that surprised. I do feel like I am a little bit oversized for this bike, guys. I know what the weight limit says, but I think this bike is designed more for uh people that are a little bit lighter than 215 lbs. Even though I feel like I’m a little bit too big for this bike, it can still get you from A to B no problem at all. And it can still achieve speeds of 20 plus miles an hour while doing it. So, it’s definitely good for some transportation. One of the best features about this bike is that you can fold it up and it only weighs 53 lbs. So, uh you can easily bring this with you on your vacation, your camping trip, stuff like that. It’s not going to take up as much space as some of the bigger bikes and it’s definitely going to be a lot easier to load and unload it from your vehicle. It rides nice and smoothly. The tires are pretty quiet for being fat tires because these are only the 3-in fat tires. So, they don’t make quite as much road noise as as a big 20x 4 inch fat tires. [Music] Taking it through the gravel here. We’re getting through, guys. But it is a little harsh with it not having any suspension. Guys, if you do get this bike, you’re definitely going to want to get yourself a bigger, wider seat or suspension seat post. That will change the whole riding experience of this bike. That’s going to make your ride much softer. The seat that comes on the bike is a uh pretty narrow, pretty firm seat also. So, yeah, if you’re going to be riding this, you’re you’re definitely going to have to get yourself something a little bit wider. [Music] Let’s see if we can make it to the top of this hill here. [Music] Putting in a little pedaling. Yeah, we made it up. Pretty big steep hill there. As you can see the power on the pedaling. When you start pedaling, there’s a little bit of a delay on the pedaling to get the power. Let’s see. about a full second delay at least. Uh but when you do the throttle, it doesn’t it doesn’t have a delay. And then if if you’re on the throttle and you start pedaling, there’s no hesitation. It doesn’t like cut out or anything like that. Some of the bikes, if you’re throttling, then you want to start pedaling, it gives you a little delay in the programming, but this one don’t do that. So you can go straight from throttle to pedaling consistently. [Music] There’s our view of the lake, guys. It is light and nimble bike. Very maneuverable. You can turn it in anywhere. And I like how the throttle can come on right away. No delay on the throttle. Uh you definitely need that on this bike since it only has the one gear. So, a lot of times you’re going to be starting out somewhere like on a hill or something like this. You’re not going to be able to pedal because of the single gear that’s on here, but you will be able to to power on using the throttle. So, so that is nice that the throttle is very responsive. A lot of the folding bikes, as soon as you take your hands off the handlebars, they want to lean over, lay over right away. This bike is actually quite stable, guys. So, yeah, even though the top speed is only 24 miles an hour, it actually cruises pretty nice at 20 miles an hour. 20 mph is kind of a a sweet spot for the bike. That’s uh on pedal assist three. It’s showing you 23 on the on the speedometer there, but it’s running 20 miles an hour according to the radar gun. And it feels like a good cruising speed for this bike. Of course, you’re going to get your longest range down here in pedal assist one going 15 mph. That’s going to give you the longest range on this bike. All right, guys. I made it back to my own property here. I have put 13 miles on the bike on this ride. It is showing two battery bars remaining. So, it’s looking like somebody my size is going to get about 20 miles of electric only range out of this bike. Let me sum up the high points of this bike for you. If you need a bike that’s lightweight, easy to fold, easy to transport, you can take this on a trip with you anywhere and then get it out and ride it around the area wherever you’re staying at on your campsite or something like that. Uh this might be an option for you. Uh the bike does ride smooth on these 20 by3 in fat tires. They’re not as loud as the 20×4 inch fat tires, and they definitely don’t weigh as much either. Uh, the bike looks pretty cool. It does have a useful rack on the back. It does have a real long seat post if you need to go high with it, but it it can also go really low, so people that are quite a bit shorter can uh can ride this bike also, no problem. The bike goes fast enough for just cruising around. It it likes to cruise at about 20. It’s looking like I’m going to get about 20 mi of range out of the bike at 215 lbs. But if you are lighter than me, say you’re only 175, 165, something like that, you might very well get 30, 35 mi of range out of this bike. That’s all going to be dependent on the rider weight, the riding conditions, and uh which pedal assist level you used. I rode around mostly on uh 3, four, and five during this ride, guys. But you can get some uh longer range out of the bike if you ride it in pedal assist one or pedal assist 2. I did take this bike all the way to town and back, and I did it on another occasion also. So, this is my second trip taking this bike to town and back. So, this thing can actually work as transportation. If you just need a bike to get you from point A to point B, uh this might be an option for you. This thing costs less than $500, guys. It’s a really uh budget way to get into the ebike game. Other than that, guys, I think the bike looks nice. I do like this white and black. It does have a nice clean looking frame. The Zoom Life Falcon is the bike for you.
