Electric Bikes In Nigeria? My Experience At Spiro’s Mobility Media Conference #shorts

Something interesting has been happening and you may have seen them around but they’re not what you think they are and in one minute I’ll explain. I was invited to a media conference organized by a mobility solutions company. They’re called Spiro and they’re those yellow commercial bikes that you see around but are surprisingly quiet and that’s simply because they’re electric. The company’s representatives told us so much and these are my favorite. They’re present in eight countries and Nigeria isn’t the first. Yellow bikes have a battery range of about 100 km on a full charge. Then they use a battery swap system which takes less than five minutes. The maintenance and ownership costs are about 40% less than the regular internal combustion powered motorcycles. Then they have three models, the 450 M1 which we all know is the Alpha Plus. Then there’s the flagship which was endorsed by Davido. They’re all equipped with modern digital screens and features like Bluetooth connectivity. And finally, they’re looking to have about a thousand swap stations nationwide. Now this one I definitely would love to see. The Q&A session was quite interesting as well with questions like how do you guide against possible abuse of purchase by my time crash results? How am I going to get them? This gave me more insight into the thoughts of the average Nigerian on the possibilities of EVs being used here. Then we also had a showcase session where we saw the bikes work firsthand and me too as you can see. But let me know what do you think of these bikes.

Last week, I was invited to a media conference where I learnt some very interesting insights on Affordable means of Electric Mobility for you and me by @spiro_nigeria

Their tag line “No Fuel, No Wahala” is quite the catch but tell me, of the 3 available models I mentioned, which are you most likely to purchase?
