Very more physical than I thought. Like every 3 seconds I’m like, “Dad, careful.” Oh my. Careful. Oh my the stone. You see the stone? We were sliding and I could see a massive stone coming towards me and I and we just miss it by this much and I said, “Did you see that?” Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It’s the co- driver that impresses me. Like the code driving is tough. I think I think the co- driving it’s more powerful. It’s it’s unbelievable the the faith they have and how they they can concentrate. It’s a job and a talent to be able they are well paid or not. No, no, but for me it’s not well paid enough. I’m glad it’s my turn now. Left first or right? [Music] Okay. [Music] We are [Music] passing [Music] we Okay. [Music] All right. He doesn’t want to stop. No. No. So much better driving than co driving. Okay. Agree. I didn’t realize how the difference because for me in the F1 car, okay, we don’t go full throttle until fourth. And what he was uh struggling is the the modulation especially the first part. So you go to a low speed and tire and it’s like you touch it. Yeah. Hard tire 3°. No, but the tire was I promise the tire was marvelous. I know a little bit about tires. The car is amazing. It’s one of the best race cars I’ve ever driven. How it takes the bumps and the faster you take a bump the better. So he was like flat out, flat out. And I was like, uh, downshift. He got the feeling of of one, if not the best off-road car. It’s completely different to a Formula 1. Is completely the opposite. It was uh unbelievable. One of the best days of my life.
Four-time Dakar Rally winner and two-time WRC champion, Carlos Sainz Senior, will take on the 2026 Dakar Rally on behalf of Ford Racing for a consecutive year. When testing at one of his favourite, chosen off-road testing areas in Zaragoza, Spain, the Spaniard received a welcome visit in son, Formula One driver Carlos Sainz who grew up watching his dad’s off-road pursuits.
The father and son duo decided to seize the moment and, having been shown the ropes by dad, Carlos took the steering wheel of the newly updated Ford Raptor T1+.
Racing dynasties don’t come much more prestigious than Carlos Sainz Sr and his son. Seeing them both enjoying the ultimate Raptor, the Ford Raptor T1+, is pure off-road family fun.
