The Off Road e-bike that feels illegal at $800. REVR V5 PRO REVIEW!
What’s up, guys? Welcome back to another ebike review by yours truly, Brandon Wagstaff. This bike is called the Rev V5 Pro. This video is going to be action-packed because this bike has a ton of capabilities and checks practically all the boxes. So, let’s get right into the video, you guys. Now, for starters, you can see that I’m here at a dirt bike track. I’m here because a bike like this can belong in one of these places, but it can also belong on the boardwalk at the beach or on the street or on the bike trails. This bike does it all. First of all, it has a 750 watt brushless motor in the rear hub and it has a pretty heavyduty battery. It’s a 48vt battery that helps get the bike up to a 60 mile range. Now, right off the bat, guys, with that motor and battery combo, this bike does 28 miles right out the box. So, basically with just the throttle only, this bike has a top speed of 28 mph. It’s a great speed. Not too slow, not too fast. Next, this bike has my favorite, a bench seat. When it comes to having a bench seat or a regular bike seat, I’ll always choose the bench because who wouldn’t want that? you have just more space to slide around and it’s 10 times more comfortable. The one cool thing about the Rever V5 Pro is it has this full plate here. As some of the past models only had a little plate, they decided to put a full plate that fills in this frame area, making it pretty cool. And this bike directly competes with a Super 73, but it’s half the price. Why is it half the price? Because you can buy this bike online. They don’t have retail stores where they jack the price way high. This bike is actually selling for around $800 right now, guys. That’s a record low. Actually, this bike has been selling for closer to $1,100 for around the past year, but they have an awesome sale right now. So, if you can get this bike for $800, that’s a complete steal. When it comes to getting bikes in the 800 range, usually you’re taking a lot of sacrifice. you are basically sacrificing a lot of premium features. But when it comes to river, they put a lot of premium features on their bikes like hydraulic brakes and buffang motors, nice headlights, and kenda tires. Usually, in order to get a bike in this range, you’re at least paying $1,000. When you go down to the $500 price ranges, like for Amazon bikes, those bikes do have a cheap feel and they don’t have a lot of the premium features like top speeds and battery range. Let’s do a walk around on this bike and I’ll point out some of the key features that I really like. First of all, I like how they have this bike blacked out. The black theme looks very sleek and then this gray camo is a nice touch. Second of all, the bench seat has these little ridges, so there’s some character and styling on the seat, which I really like that. as well as these grips kind of make it a little more comfortable because they have a little flare out thing for your wrist to kind of lean into. Next, this bike is a full suspension bike, which is pretty cool. You have dual suspension here in the back. You have some heavyduty forks that rise all the way to the top and have this huge bracket thing to reinforce that. These are metal pedals, pretty heavyduty, sturdy pedals. There’s some metal pegs back here so you can have a rider and they can be pretty secure with their metal pegs. This is a closeup on the Buffang motor and your hydraulic brakes. Hydraulic brakes are is there’s a little system here where there’s a small amount of mineral oil and that fluid increases the stopping power because it reinforces the brake action that’s paired with the piston and the brake pads right there. It has a name brand Shimano gear shifter here that goes up to seven gears. The Zoom brakes are name brand as well. Here’s the Shimano gear set. Here’s your derailer and your gear set. This bike has a wired rear brake light and tail light. So, the bike will illuminate uh bright red when you pull the brake levers. And there’s always a running tail light, so it’ll always be illuminated uh red while you’re riding along the path. And then when you break, it’ll illuminate even brighter. Here’s the front headlight. It’s about as big as my hand. This thing is pretty much the same quality type light you would maybe see on a motorcycle or a car. It just illuminates the bike path as bright as it can be. I have no complaints with the light. Definitely would never even consider upgrading this light considering how bright and powerful that light is. All right, guys. Now, we’re going to go on a little trail test and see the durability of this bike. So, step one, I’m going to press the on button. There’s only three buttons here on the switch. There’s an on button, a positive, and a negative button. The positive button will bring your gear up to the high gear that you want. I’m going to go up all the way to the max gear, which is gear five. And like I said, gear five will get you up to a 28 mile speed. So, um, let’s go around this little BMX track and give you guys a little tour of this place as I’m just riding this little off-road dirt bike. Basically doing what it’s meant for. This place is super fun. Like, if you want to burn a couple hours, definitely come to a place like this. Today I’m actually working. Got to set up all this camera gear, break it down, stuff like that. Take shots, retake shots, get different angles. But man, even though I’m having a lot of fun doing this today. So, this is a BMX track and it’s these jumps are very, very advanced. Uh they’re built for like extremely light BMXs. Um launch real high and then you know travel pretty relatively far. It’s like a high launch and a medium travel as far as these jumps. But as far as this bike goes, I could at least go on some of them. Not all of them. This bike isn’t necessarily built for jumping, per se. It’s built for like rigid trails. These are little whoop-doos. Really like that part. So, this bike is like a Super 73 lookalike. Very sturdy, heavyduty uh frame on this thing. It’s very sturdy bike. And some adults, this is a very popular kids bike, but a lot of adults choose to ride bikes like this. Uh they just like everything about it. I’m 41 years old and the first rever bike I reviewed was the Rever V5. I had my selection out of many, many ebikes. And tell you the truth, guys, out of all the ebikes that I had, I chose to hold on to my Rever V5. I do plenty of reviews, have plenty of ebikes on hand. Sometimes we got to sell them uh to make space. Even though I love every bike that I review, I wish I could have a huge garage, a huge warehouse and just have a massive collection and memories of all the bikes I reviewed, but uh that’s that’s not uh where my path is heading right now. Maybe down the line we’ll get a setup like that and I will collect everything. Uh but now some of them go, some of them stay. And the funny thing is I’m 41 years old and I held on to that uh Rever V5 because I loved it. It had the brown seat and everything and uh just exactly like this one, but this is a V5 Pro. So, this this is that bike’s like purple color with uh brown seat. Maybe it wasn’t as popular as with a lot of people. This bike is a more general coloring and stuff like that. But yeah, guys, all ages can ride Super 73s. There’s a big following with them. This bike is like a buy it once type deal. You’re gonna buy this bike and it’s going to last you many, many, many, many years. Oh, let’s go through this track, but the opposite way this time. Going to drop in. Oh, yeah. We got to drop in over here. This place is called Cheap Hills. So, now I’ll put the camera down and give you guys another angle. I’m going to hit these jumps. So guys, definitely I could have got a lot better action shots for you if I had a cameraman following me around and getting some rotations on the shots. But kind of riding by a tripod, you can only do so much. You can only ride so fast. But some of my thoughts on what’s going through my head while I’m doing these agility tests with the bike is definitely got to stay super focused and pay attention what you’re doing. If you really pay attention, you can really get into it and do some cool stuff on this bike. It jumps fairly well. Like I said, it’s not meant for jumping, but it definitely corners really well. It turns really well, stops really well, accelerates, climbs really well. So, there’s a lot of cool things that this bike can do. Also, guys, this bike does have pedal assist. So, depending on how fast or slow you can go, you can have pedal assist in one, two, three, four, or fifth gear, and that’ll help you with pedal assist. The pedal assist is pretty responsive. So, it basically recognizes when you start rotating the pedals and depending on the rotations, it’ll engage the motor for you and then when you hit the brake, it will disengage the motor. Me personally, I never use the pedal assist. Um, I think if you were going to ride this bike daily as like commuting, you may use the pedal assist, but for me, I just like throttle only. All right, guys. That concludes the durability test on this dirt track. Let’s ride it over here to close out the video. Man, even though this is an ebike, that’s still a workout. Here’s a good look at the controls while you’re riding. We’ll do one more lap so you guys can get a look at the controls. like this. Here’s those pump jumps. And yeah, fun bike, easy to control, takes some getting used to, but any beginner biker can ride this. Look, I’m just riding with one hand. But this bike can be for advanced use if you actually wanted to. One more thing to note on this bike is it’s actually pretty light. I carry it up and downstairs from a two-story apartment and I just pick it up by here and in the back and it’s pretty simple to carry. I think it weighs like around 70 lbs.
