TVS Orbiter walkaround – New EV sitting below the iQube | First Look | Autocar India

Say hello to the new TVS Orbiter. This is the brand new electric scooter in TVS’s lineup. It sits just at the bottom end of the I Cube lineup. This is priced at about 1 lakh rupees X showroom. And I’ll tell you what this thing packs. A review for the Orbiter goes out tomorrow. Watch out for that. By the way, in the meanwhile, here’s a rundown of all the technical specifications that this thing has. It has a 3.1 kWh battery which sends power to a hubmounted motor at the back. And this hub mounted motor, it’s not as powerful as the one on the I cube. And it’s not even the same motor. You’ve got fairly simple componentry, telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers. They are derived from the I cube. However, the damping rates are a little different. What is not derived from the I cube is this 14-in front wheel. We’ve yet not seen an electric scooter with a 14-in front and a 12-in rear until the Orbiter has come onto the scene. And what else I can tell you is that this has a color LCD display, not a TFT like the IQ. There are still some smart functions like geopensing, call alerts, and all of that baked into it if you pair your phone via the TVS app. And other nifty features that the Orbiter comes with are hillhold control and cruise control. How those features affect the performance of this 1 lakh rupee electric scooter is something you’ll have to find out in our review that goes live tomorrow. The Orbiter is only available in one variant. There are five colors. We’ll put a shot of all the colors on the screen. This is the more flashier color. There are other more subdued options if you would like them. They’re all priced the same by the way. They’re all at the 1 lakh rupee mark. As you can see, it’s also got very different styling to the IQ. What are your thoughts on the styling? I’m bound by the embargo, so I can’t tell you what I think about it until tomorrow. Uh, all in all, it’s a very straightforward thing. As you can see, the seat is also very straight. And for somebody of my size, this is what it looks like. The Orbiter actually has a bigger boot than the I Cube. It’s 34 L, similar space to the Aether Rista. Uh, this is what it looks like. You’ve got two halface helmets in here. It’s in fact even bigger than the I Cube. The I Cube is a 30 or 32 L boot depending on the variant. This has a bigger boot than the I Cube. Uh, I think that’s about all I can share about the Orbiter today. Watch out for the review tomorrow. I think I’ll see you then.

The Orbiter is the new entry-level EV from TVS which shares some parts with the iQube but takes its own unique approach in some ways. Dinshaw Magol tells you all you need to know.
