The Making of a Lion | EPISODE 4 | A LION AMONG THE PRIDE
It’s not just a hobby anymore. We represent the team. We represent the car manufacturer. You cannot do any kind of endurance sports in general without a team behind you. So in the end, it’s all one big family. Team Peugeot total energies. It represents six different drivers in car 94. Loic dual stuff vanor myself and then in the 93 it’s Paul Desta Johnny Aguan and Michensen there is a very very nice team spirit you can definitely see that a lot of the mechanics are connecting very very well [Music] they are all acting like a family which is brilliant to see in such a big team sometimes you could be a bit afraid that when it gets to this kind of level in the sport and into manufacturer level that you kind of lose that family spirit just because everything is too big and there’s too many people involved. 99% of the time we are always the six of us together. How do you build unity across two cars competing for the same result? As we are part of a team and representing Peugeio, it’s pretty clear, you know, we are two cars. We are here to win and then in the end it doesn’t really matter if it’s the 93 or the 94 as long as we help each other. [Music] If the 93 car did win, would it have the same taste of victory for you? Especially as a driver, I think we are a little more selfish than the others in the team. But at the end of the day, it’s not like you fight against it, you know, to make sure that you favorize our car in 94 compared to the 93. The most important part about that is working together as a team. [Music] What are the key roles in the garage that fans might not know about? We are very fortunate to have a service from Total Energies that we have a guy called Coranton in our garage for all the test sessions and all the races doing like a scan of the gearbox and engine oil. And then he has a machine that can measure the amount of metal pieces that’s effectively in the oil. Therefore, you have a chance to stop it all before it’s too late. We have always been on the same page. The whole team and the drivers, we have the same target and the same goal in the race and we want to achieve the same results. We always work together. [Music]
