I Took a Walmart Bike to “Mini Madness”
Los Angeles would be nothing without its minibikes. Do not be deceived by their mininess. These illegal bikes are as loud as they are fast as they are dangerous. Despite ongoing tensions between miniike gangs, once a year, everyone rides together, and it’s always madness. This year, my goal is to survive on an upgraded Walmart bike, packing almost 20 times the legal power limit, known in the street as the Green Goblin. Jim wearing the most out of pocket shirt ever. I think you can guess what it says. This is all gas bikes we’re going to. I’m going to be like, “Oh, I don’t know this guy.” Pretend you don’t know me when we pull up, dude. Girl. So, it sounds like the main group’s up at a gas station. This isn’t even close to the whole group. This guy’s got his dog back there, which is cool, but it’s like, man, it’s loud for a dog. But I got a new bike in and I’ve become very picky with these new suron type bikes. There’s so many different brands spawning into this category and this is the first one in a while that I’ve seen potential in. Pushing 20 kW, the new Vetra has more than enough power. It’s approaching that of the Alta Sigma and the EI Pro SR. I’m not a fan of the screw design to lift the seat, but it does give some storage under there for a wallet or tools. and it unlocks the compartment revealing the industry-leading 72V 55 a battery which is massive but somehow they kept the bike looking really sharp. You get two keys like a Hellcat. The red key unlocks full power. The Vetra sits on dirt tires that are nearly dual sport and the chain drive is direct to the motor so there is no primary belt or gearing. So this bike should sound a little different. The brakes are standard, the controls are generic, and there is a gap in the frame that reveals some wires unnecessarily, but I would still argue this is one of the best looking bikes on the market. And being among the most powerful doesn’t hurt. I’m taking this to my private testing facility to race against its competition. We got Ross Dunce in the flesh and Jimbo Slice himself. Enough tom foolery. It goes up to four modes. Full throttle in mode three. Super good feeling bike. I like mode three. It regens through the motor when you hit the brake, which I kind of want to turn off for when I do wheelies. I wonder if I I can just unplug it. Let’s go. I feel like we’ve got some crazy aura rolling around on these three bikes. Jim on the only purple factory EI Pro ever made. Super moto, may I add. Raw on the only red Alta Sigma in the world. And I’m on this new bitching bike, which I think is one of the best looking bikes in this class ever made. Everyone’s trying to copy the Suron. You’ll never look as good as the Suron. I feel like they did a pretty good job not looking like the Suron, but still looking really, really good. Taking this big battery, but still making the bike sleek. Rolling Race Errol 3.0. No. Ulta Sigma full throttle in mode 4. We’re out. We’re going. Says 112 km an hour. Race on the green behind the line. Jim, I know how you are. Alta Sigma ERP Pro 3.0 Vetra. Can’t keep the wheel down. Oh, the Altus is gone. And I’m gone from the EI Pro. That’s really interesting. So, this sits exactly between the Ulta Sigma and the EI Pro 3.0, but closer to the Ulta Sigma. Jim’s pretty damn far behind on the EI Pro. This thing’s sick. The EI Pro 3.0 is one of my favorite bikes. I think it has the perfect amount of power. Just because this bike’s faster doesn’t mean it’s a better bike. Taking something around the neighborhood, you probably prefer the EI Pro power. But if you’re trying to win a race, I mean, this is going to win. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Very nice balance point.
