I Hacked the Cheapest Amazon Bike
I bought the cheapest bike on Amazon. It’s a total piece of sheer excitement if we hack it with a $15 Bluetooth dongle and a battery that costs twice as much as the bike. [Music] Pushing 10 times the power through a $1,000 budget bike could lead to an explosion. But I don’t care because I have four more of these and if they survive this video, I’m giving them away. All you need to hack a studio is this $15 Bluetooth dongle from Amazon. I’m taking off the seat and unscrewing the controller plate. Removing the battery, I now have access to the controller where the Bluetooth dongle plugs right in. Taking off this cover gives me access to the power leads, which I’m removing and replacing with my own battery harness, positive and negative, that lead to a QS connector matching the 72vt battery I’m upgrading to. This is the stock 48V Studio battery next to the massive 72V 50 aour battery I’m upgrading to. I thought it would barely fit, but it actually has too much wiggle room. It now plugs right in and I’m able to change the tune to 72 volts and increase the power through the app with direction from LE rides. The only problem now is that the battery just barely stops the seat from closing. So, I need to trim a little bit off the seat. I’m taking care to mark an accurate line for where I’ll cut. So, I have as much seat left over as possible. I’d say my measuring was pretty good. Maybe a hair off. I’m just going to fill the space with some foam. I don’t think you’ll be able to notice it’s there. [Music] A couple straps and voila, a 72VT packed studio ready for the street. My first stop downtown is Santos Studio where Jim, Tim, Raw, and I are all getting a free shopping spree. We could just grab whatever we wanted. If that wasn’t enough, they also iced us out next door at Jackson. [Music] Now we’re pulling up to the testing facility. Iced out. Raw has also hacked his studio, but still has the stock battery compared to mine, which is hacked with a 72vt battery. LA Rides advised I bring a bottle of water with me to pour on the motor while I ride because we’re definitely going to be pushing it. Dude, the seat’s not even that bad. The custom foam really helps. Might even be better than the original. Dude, this thing is butter. I haven’t ridden this yet. I can already tell this thing’s powerful. This is the most you can push the Bluetooth module. That’s as much as you push the Bluetooth module on its own. Let’s see it. Full throttle. Yeah. Full throttle. Yeah, it is. You got a problem with that, slow boy. That’s a waste of money. Waste of money. No way. All right, I need to do some water cooling really quick. What are you talking about? Waste of money, dude. This thing’s as good as they come. I put 25 into my studio and he puts 2500. [Laughter] So I’ll match your speed, little Bluetooth boy. So this is the Bluetooth speed on its own. All you do is get that $15 module. You’re going that fast. Then you put a 72vt battery in and you go this fast. Yeah. Can’t walk. No way we’re going the same speed. [Applause] How many volts is yours? 48. 48. All right. You’re 48 volt raw from now on. Little slow boy. I’m going to tell you ripped off cuz you got ripped off. A 48 volt raw. Can’t get it up. A man. I’m really glad he didn’t see that. Nice, dude. So, if you’re looking at the Tudio and thinking, I’m going to get that instead of the RTR and then I’ll build it up into something equivalent to the RTR, you’re going to be losing money. I could have easily bought an RTR, 72 volt RTR for the amount that I put into this studio and it’s not even close. Not to mention the suspension and the brakes. Yay. Like, this is an amazing bike for the budget, but if you’re looking to spend $3,000, do not look at this bike to build it out. Just go with the RTR. It’s a no-brainer. And if you do get a bike like this, don’t spend $2,000 on it to be just a little bit faster than the stock bike. And at this point in my life, I don’t want anything on my birthday. Highway riding is not as enjoyable as I would have thought because all the cars are going fast. So, it makes it feel like no one’s going fast. Everything’s relative. I don’t know what changed, but they feel light now. I’m on my way to doing five in a row when this happened. No, I lost a good amount of skin on my left hand.
