Chevy EV Sales Surge 770% in Shock Attack on Tesla’s US Dominance
Chevy sales in the United States have been absolutely skyrocketing. I mean, these numbers are pretty shocking. Growth of 700%. The Equinox EV, it’s meant to be apparently the most affordable 315 mile range vehicle in the or 315 mi plus range vehicle in the US. It’s actually a pretty good car, too. You can see why sales are increasing, but I don’t think anyone would expect sales to increase by more than 700%. Hello, my friends. Welcome to the channel. I’m Sam Evans. I’ll just try and adjust the camera so you can maybe see it just that a little bit better. Yeah. Sorry, my my face unfortunately is in the way of the the beautiful view behind us. Hey guys, we are here in Bangladesh in a tuk tuk. So guys, what’s happening here? Well, the Equinox EV, massive sales success, 722% growth in June. Apparently, it is America’s most affordable EV with over 315 mi of range. That’s what General Motor says anyway. starts at $35,000 and sales of the base model, which cost $34,995, have been massively growing. It’s now the third bestselling EV in the US behind the Tesla Model 3 and the Tesla Model Y. According to data from S&P Global Mobility, Chevy remained in second in June after EV registrations rose 152% to 9,517 units. So Chevy sales up 152%. EVs clearly customers are saying well Chevy makes pretty good EVs. They actually are pretty good value I have to say and it means that Chevy or I should say General Motors is the second or number two in EV sales in the United States this year. The Chevy Equinox 722% growth 6,239 deliveries. Sales doubled for the Chev Chevy Chevy Silverado EV pickup truck to 1,035. Guys, I personally love the Silverado electric pickup truck. I know a lot of people are going to hate it when I say this kind of stuff, but I think it’s great. Gets 450 mi of real world range. I I reckon it would be a great a great vehicle. Definitely a much better alternative to an internal combustion engine version. That’s for sure. I love the midgate. The midgate idea. You can lift up that gate in the back of the vehicle and have this massive bed space. I think it’s just awesome. Anyway, Tesla is still the market leader, though Tesla sales did fall by 6% to 57,260 deliveries in June. Model 3 sales actually grew though, up 31% to 17,000. Cybert truck sales still struggling, down 53% to 2,184 deliveries. Through the first half or the first 6 months of 2025, Tesla sales fell by 7.5%. Actually, I think it’s actually a pretty good result considering the new Model Y hasn’t been available all year. I think um I’m surprised at how good that is. Actually, 271,000 Teslas were delivered in the first 6 months of the year. Tesla’s market share has fallen a little though, down from around 50% to 43.7%. So it’s fallen by 6.8%. So Tesla, their sales are actually I think pretty good, but 43.7% of all vehicle all EVs sold in the US this year have been Teslas and about 56% have been other brands. Chevy’s share of the market uh has more than doubled to 7.7%. So 7.7% of all EVs sold were Chevys. Chevrolet had 47,56 EV registrations. Not in a month, unfortunately. That would be good. But that’s for the first 6 months of the year. And still that is actually a pretty good result because that means that Chevy’s EV sales have grown by 143% from last year. Ford placed third after E- reg EV registrations fell. Unfortunately, Ford EV sales not doing so well, down 9.5% to 5,760 in June. In the first half of 2025, Ford’s market share fell by 0.7% or 0.7% to 6.7%. And let’s be honest, Ford is kind of well, Ford’s really way behind General Motors at this point in time, which is things have turned between GM and Ford. They’ve really turned. I mean, Ford have, of course, the the Transit, the electric van. They have the Ford Mustang Mache and the Ford F-150, but all three of those vehicles are really a generation old now. And sales are obviously representing what customers think, I think, as well. Honda up 2.5%. Acura up 1.7%, Cadillac up 1.1%. They all gain market share. That’s their market share increases. Kia down 2.5%. Hyundai down 0.8%. 8% Rivian down 0.8%. So all this means that General Motors is well had its highest July sales month ever with 19,000 electric cars sold. Great news for them. Equinox EV 8,500 sold and that’s the best for any electric vehicle in the US that’s not a Tesla. So yeah, well done General Motors. Now could sales been have been better? Well, I think um absolutely. I don’t understand why more EVs aren’t being sold in the US, especially considering the tax credit will end in September. So, I I I think August will be a better month than July. But I I’m still a little bit surprised to to not see more EV sales growth in the US considering EV sales in Europe this year are up around 30%. Uh in fact, EV sales worldwide this year are up 30%. But the US, they’re only up 2%. So, I’m I’m a little bit shocked. I don’t really understand why that is. Obviously, I’m not an American. I love America, but I’m not an American, so I don’t really understand why this is happening. I wonder if it’s anything to do with politics, the Trump administration disparaging EVs, maybe.
