There’s this Woody Guthrie quote that I actually I have it on my guitar and it says, “You write what you see.” And I think that’s why Building the Road is so inspiring to me. You become a sponge of information and experience. And I think that that really fuels my creativity. [Music] If I set myself up for success and if I have a good day and if I start the day with things that I love in the way that I love, uh, it makes the rest of my job and the rest of my day really, really easy and fulfilling. the way my sit being a touring musician and being someone who has to travel and create um at this pretty constant rate, it’s opened me up to a lot of really beautiful and inspiring things and experiences that I just wouldn’t have had if I was sitting on the couch back in Nashville. Whether I’m like in LA on a riding trip or I’m back home in Nashville, I I ultimately try to no matter where I am set time to be creative. The first time I ever heard my music was on SiriusXM and it was honestly at a moment I needed to hear myself and have that bit of reassurance that maybe I’m on the right path. I’m never break. One day I was just writing about the fact that uh my mind and my heart seem to be in multiple places. Uh and that’s what all my time is about is sort of like everything that I do, I do it so I can pour into the things that I care about. And it comes at a sacrifice. It means that I have to spend like a 100 days away from home. But it all is to me worth it because the heart of it is that it’s for myself and for the people that I love.
