Drift mode on Tata Harrier EV and 0-100kmph tested! Quick walkaround – everything you need to know
The Tata Harrier EV is the first Indian car with drift mode. [Applause] Drift mode. Opinions are under embargo, so I can’t tell you what’s not happening. It has that so-called drift mode because drive goes not to the front wheels, but to the rear wheel. The Harrier EV is natively rearwheel drive, which in effect makes it superior to the Ice Harrier, which is only front-wheel drive. And that’s not it. The Harrier EV finally brings an all-wheel drive car back into the Tata Motors portfolio. Moving from frontwheel drive to rear wheel drive means a complete re-engineering of the platform. It’s called the Harrier EV, but this could be a brand new car. There’s a completely new front end, new mounting points, new cradle, a fully flat floor. And at the rear, you get a multi-link suspension. The Harrier Ice has got a torsion beam, multi-link far superior. This is a fourlink suspension. And also crucially, this has FSD dampers. Power 156 BHP motor on the front axle. 235 BHP motor on the rear axle. Total system output 304 bhp and total torque 504 Newton meters. In boost mode claimed 0 to 100 in 6.3 seconds making it the fastest accelerating Indian car. Top speed is limited to 180 km/h. Same LFP batteries with cylindrical cells as the other Tata EV range, but here they’ve unlocked 1.5 C charging, 1.2C on the other range. And that’s why you get 250 km of range in 15 minutes. The 75 kWh battery has a claimed 622 km range on the MIDC cycle. And Tata Motor says you get between 460 and 490 km of realworld range. And crucially, you get a lifetime battery warranty with unlimited kilometers. This has been rolled out across the entire Tata EV range. And Tata Motor says that has resulted in an uptick in volumes. In fact, they claim that the Nexon EV might overtake the Windsor as India’s bestselling car. This is new on the Harriet EV. 14.53 in screen. This is powered by Harmon. It’s the first application of Samsung’s NeoQL LED screen in a car. It also gets Dolby Atmos, GBL black speakers, 10 speakers. It sounds Oh, embargo. 35 L frunk for the all-wheel drive version, 67 liter frunk on the rear wheel drive version, and 502 L at the rear. Five-star B and cap crash safety rating and seven airbags including a knee airbag. 2741 mm wheelbase, which is the same as the Harrier Ice, and it has a 600 mm water weighting capacity. weight 2,335 kilos, 2.3 tons and when laden, it’s got a 50/50 weight distribution. Level 2 has 20 plus features and Tata Motor says that this has been adapted to Indian traffic conditions to be less intrusive. This brakes on all four wheels, including brake disc wiping, acti.ev electrical architecture with Snapdragon’s digital chassis platform with advanced OTAA capabilities. There’s off-road assist that can crawl the car at 5k. 28.99 lakhs for the Harrier EV, the all-wheel drive version with the 75 kWh battery pack.
