These were… well, “popular” isn’t the right word for them, but there was a certain set of, like, guys in Texas who inherited a construction company from their dad that used to buy these. I think they’ve since moved on to either those Ram 5500s modified for overlanding, or they went the other way and bought Hummer EVs or Cybertrucks.
EDIT: These are, to no one’s surprise, _awful_ to use as non-commercial vehicles. It’s a commercial truck chassis under there, obviously, with all the compromises to comfort and ride quality that entails. They’re so large and tall that you can’t use them in most parking garages and they won’t fit in most parking spaces. It’s fun to drive a really big truck once, but trying to use one as a daily driver to make some kind of personal statement is really stupid.
