So for context I have a 2021 Audi A7. Stock wheels and stock lugs. Stock lug nut thread is 27mm. I bought a set of 15mm and 20mm spacers so I could see which ones I like the look of more. From what I understand, I would need a set of 42mm lugs and a set of 47mm lugs respectively. Online I can find 47mm lugs but not 42mm lugs. I can only find 40mm and 45mm. To me having a thread that’s 2mm shorter than what I would need doesn’t sound like a good idea and if I buy the 45mm, I don’t know if having that extra 3mm would cause any problems or if it’s be too long for it to tighten properly. Just wondering what I should do here or if anyone has any recourses that I might be able to find what I need?

fully tight with a couple threads in the socket seems a lot better than 2mm loose with room to wiggle

You should post this in an Audi-specific sub. This one is mainly for sharing pictures of cool mods, not asking questions.

You need lug bolts not lug nuts this is a euro. ECS tuning has 15mm kits that come with the correct length lug bolts also

The lug bolts need to be the correct length. Having the extra 3mm likely won’t cause a problem, though. They will just protrude from the inside surface of the hub. As long as there’s nothing for them to snag on behind the hub, it’s fine.

Make sure your new lug bolt “seat” is the same shape. They come in three main flavors: ball/round, tapered/conical, and flat. You probably have tapered.

Something else you might consider is doing a stud conversion. Usually stud conversions are long enough that you can run reasonable spacers, and that means you don’t have to change lug bolts if you change spacers. But make sure the stud conversion has the extra length you need. Buy it from a reputable dealer, like ECS or FCP.
